Yes, but I think in some countries it's a sign of appreciation - or is that just an excuse!

It is rude if you are eating out in a nice resturant, especially if you don't know the person you are eating with very well. - I wouldn't burp out loud if I was on a first date!
My children think it's great and have burping competitions though.
It's really a cultural thing; traditionally, in the UK, it is considered rude in polite company, (although many have relaxed that rule), but in some Arab States is you would insult your host if you didn't burp after a meal. I'm sure it is different today, but in the old days your host was within his rights to kill you if you didn't burp after eating! - Quite a blow if you never burp much.

Burping is a normal bodily function that everyone does. As long as you ask for a pardon and don't become an alphabet burper immediately upon the first then it is not bad manners. Some countries it is considered good manners to burp after a meal.

No, I don't. In fact, it's unhealthy not to burp after a meal and can cause some serious problems. Depending on the setting, though, I think it might be appropriate to make it as soft as one can. If I have to burp in a restaurant, I do it with my mouth closed and my hand over my mouth. If I'm at home, I open my mouth and project. (I don't see the point in observing manners that could harm my health when I'm in the privacy of my own home.) My husband will then look at me and say, "Good one!"

In some cultures its considered rude if you don't burp after your meal - burping shows that you enjoyed the meal.
Personally, it depends on the situation, if ya at home eating in front of the tv than it don't matter to much, and i tend to do that myself, as long as ya excuse yourself.
If ya eating out at a restaurant than its not the best, but as long as it don't turn into a burping contest and one excuses themselves it lessens the rudeness.

Sometimes burping cannot be helped. If a person burps in his/her napkin then that's okay. But not just a nasty burp without any intention of covering it up.

It all depends on where you come from. In parts of Africa, it is considered to be a sign that you appreciate the food and the host. In parts of England you may never be invited back. In parts of Asia, it is seen as a sign that you enjoyed the food and are giving the gods a taste, In the States it is thought to be Rude, I simply think it is a sign of bad breeding and no etiquette. So it all depends on where you are on the planet

burping after a good meal is very natural... but burping out loud in public, as if you were trying to throw it all out... pwhew !!.. but if it's followed by an "excuse me", it's acceptable and the act is forgivable...

If the person is just sitting there and deliberatey gives a loud, blatent burp then yes, but if a person realises what they have done, they immediately put a napkin to their lips and apologises then no.

Yes I think it is really rude, especially when the person burping is proud of themselves

Yes I find it rude when you are out formally...but If you were in Japan it is polite to burp after you have had your meal, as it is to slurp your soup. However if you are with (real) friends then it doesnt matter you.. just tell them to f*ck offf...
