Not completely sure about the tone of your question. Are you asking why (or if) I made my marriage vow for the sake of Christ, or are you simply taking Christ's name in vain?

Either way, I will weigh in with my 2 cents worth. The Church (body of believers in Christ) is described as the Bride of Christ. He has given himself exclusively and faithfully to her (the Church) through His death and resurrection. Throughout the Bible, spiritual marriage is used as a metaphor for human marriage. Living with a man or woman is not a marriage, a vow, or a commitment to that person. If Christ did not make or keep a spiritual vow of marriage to the Church, what kind of a husband would He be?

I made a vow of marriage to my wife, before God and other witnesses, and did so out of obedience to Christ. If one does not have a personal relationship with Christ, then naturally this may seem silly or even ridiculous. Hope I answered your question.

I don't think that living together is wrong but it depends on your religious beliefs. Marriage doesn't have to be about God though it can be a secular ceremony that is just about making the promise to be there for each other for life in the presence of and with the support of family and friends. Religious people will say it is wrong because of their belief system. For instance, some Christians believe sex outside marriage is fornication and a sin. You need the ceremony to get God's sanction that you are joined in God's eyes as husband and wife. Marriage means different things to different people. We shouldn't impose our individual views or make assumptions about others but people do. Consider the pros and cons, what you believe, what marriage does and doesn't mean to you and make your own decision. Don't worry about what others think.

I believe that the marriage was set to protect the honor of women. Women are not that interested in that honor anymore.

I get married in the name of Allah (God)! And if you would look around you could notice what happens to a society that belittles the institution of marriage. Allah (God) forbid!
