Answer to the question about baking potatoes in the microwave oven. You certainly don't need to prick the potato.
Just wash them thoroughly and towel dry. Plan for 10 minutes per potato in the micro oven. A few minutes is a preheated normal oven after the baking gives an excellent result

I did it. Put it in for 10 minutes while forgetting to prick it. There was a burning smell. Upon opening the oven door smoke came out and one could see burning embers inside the blackened potato. The walls of our white oven were brown/black and the microwave no longer works...even the keypad and clock do not work. I do not recommend it.

I've done this several times at the restaurant in an emergency. In my experience, nothing has happened. The potatoes aren't as good as baked, but no explosions or anything.

didn't cook evenly. Supposedly the steam can build up and make a mess of the potato and microwave, but never seen it happen.

Nothing has ever happend to me. I suppose it depends on how long you leave it for, the only thing that happened to mine is that the skin cracked and broke open

we never "prick" the potatoes
just wash then wrap in plastic wrap and microwave
