Most STD tests that are done only detect if you are positive for Trichamonas, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Yeast. It does not show if you have HPV or HIV. A pap test or Pap Smear is a preventative test to check for cells that could indicate early signs of cervical cancer or irregularities. This is how HPV is commonly diagnosed. On that note, if you are under 26y.o I suggest you ask about the Gardisil Vaccine to help prevent you from getting 7 of the main strains of HPV. If you have anymore questions, just give me a buzz and I will be glad to help if I can.

No, they are two different tests. One tests the cells of the vagina the other tests the cells of and around the cervix.

Two completely different methods are used to test the cells that are swabbed, therefore, you cannot test for STD with a pap test or vice versa.

No. Pap smears are used to detect cancer and abnormalities. They do not detect STDs.

I dependes If you have an Std like Trich or gonerrah or something it won't show up on the pep test unless it's entered your cervix then the dr. will call you in and tell you what's wrong and give you some meds to take That's what happed to me last month.
an Std test will tell you before you get signs if it's in your blood cells that if you get HIV/AIDS.

No, because you can have changes in your cervix without having an STD. You can get cervical cancer without ever having had an STD in your life. You need to get both done.
