Once the outbreak is over and the sores have completely healed then the person won't feel any more pain or discomfort (until they get another outbreak).

I haven't had an outbreak in over 2 years. I feel completely fine, just like anyone else.

When people aren't having an outbreak they live a normal life. They don't constantly have pain down there or "effects".
