14:4. And We sent not a Messenger except with the language of his people, in order that he might make (the Message) clear for them. Then Allâh misleads whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
Does Allah mislead?
4:157 . That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-
This verse says they were made to believe a lie.
Does Allah deliberately mislead people then punish them for not following?

Why If I understand you correctly Allah only misleads those who are already mislead? If Allah misleads anyone would it be righteous of him to judge against them?
What about those who were led to believe in the crucifiction of Christ believing that the Messiah brings them salvation...this allowed for 600 years of people believing in an atonement that Allah caused them to believe one can only imagine how many peole lived and died in the period with no word from Allah contrary believing in what he caused them to believe..they lived there entire lives beleiving a lie that Allah caused them to believe with no truth from Allah to contradict what he cauised them to believe? Then Allah will judge them for believing what he caused them to believe?

Action fury If Allah misleads those who he knows are already mislead by foreknowledge... How does this work?
Allah foreknows that you will not serve him so he misleads you so that you cant serve him? counterproductive isnt it?
Why mislead someone you already know he wont find the right path? Unless the reason he wont find the right path is because you misled him?
Action fury isnt the whole reason for misleading someone to keep that person form finding the truth? Why bother if he is not capable of finding the truth?

Muslims, It is not consistant with the God of Abraham that preexisted Muhammad and Islam to deceive his people. God is a righteous God that reveals the truth to those who seek his truth he does not mislead them. Jesus told the Sons of Abrham theior father was Satan the liar as they were believing the lie. It is Satan that deceives not God. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh who the prophets foretold us would come and atone for sin. Do not be deceived by the liar. Jesus did pay the penalty for all who will acceot the atonement. God is not the liar Satan is.

Moonlit thanks for your answer it is the best Muslim response so far. I must admit I dont agree with you but at least it is sensible it is not sensible to believe Alalh misleads those who are already mislead without hope of finding the right path.. The problem I have is the sura doesnt say Allah can mislead who he chooses but that he does mislead who he chooses...and again 4:157 says it was made to appear to them that Jesus had been crucified which seems (especially considering Allah does mislead) to refer to these people as being tricked or deceived by Allah. Thanks for your answer but the sura does say Allah misleads some.

Servent of Allah, I find it indeed unusual for a Muslim to say that a professional should be consulted to understand the Qu'ran correctly. The Qu'ran itself says it is gives clear insruction and I have many times been told by Muslims the simplicity of the Qu'ran. I dont think I have applied anything out of context even though I have used seperate suras. The first is sufficient to show that Allah does mislead who he chooses.
The second I feel seems to demonstrates this in action. My real point is that the Quran has Allah saying he deliberatly misleads who he chooses to mislead.
This does not leave a lot of room for a professional to explain.

Angel, It says he misleads who he chooses, which means you might be mislead depending on whether Allah chooses to mislead you. there is no way to say for sure you are not being mislead it is is absolutely up to Allah.
this proves that Allah is not the God of the Bible who loved us ALL so much that he paid the penalty of death that ALL who accept his atonement will be saved.

True Allah can misguide whoever he wills. But guess what, Allah also gave us something else..~* Freewill *~. We are capable of altering anything that is destined for us. The wicked can become pious and vice versa. Allah puts roads in front of us and we choose which road to take. Also, what he means by these verses are that.. to test people further Allah has gave us so many things which we might be tempted to love and lust after. Remember Adam and Eve? The whole Tree and Apple thing? It is human nature to rebel. But they did repent afterwards and Allah forgave them. In today's day and age there are many forbidden fruits. The key here is to follow the right path. Allah also said that believers (Muslims) who are hypocrites are worst than non-Muslims. Because they misguide THEMSELVES. Allah said if he WILLED he can guide or misguide who ever he wants. Doesn't mean he has. That's up to our deeds to decide. The only thing we cant change is ours or some Else's life or death. Which is why suicide and murder are sins. These right of death are only for Allah.
Please do further research before posting next time.

Surah 29:69
As for those who strive in Us, We surely guide them to Our paths, and lo! Allah is with the good.
Surah 14:4
And We never sent a messenger save with the language of his folk, that he might make (the message) clear for them
Allah can guide whom he wants. But to the ignorant and arrogant, Allah, if he wills will keep that person from the right path.
Look at the source a very in depth answer to your question.
I have never seen a question concerning Islam that has not been answered.
Edit: If people plot against Allah than if Allah wants then they will be kept from the right path. So to your question the answer is yes, people may go against Allah, but Allah will always outsmart them. READ THE SOURCE PLS.
Yes If Allah wishes he can prevent people from seeing the truth. But Allah also says a sinner blackens his own heart, which leads him to his own destruction. Allah says he will always guide those who struggle to find the truth.
"Allah only misleads those who are already mislead?" I never said that once. READ THE SOURCE.
You said "this allowed for 600 years of people believing in an atonement that Allah caused them to believe one can only imagine how many peole lived and died in the period with no word from Allah contrary believing in what he caused them to believe." Prophet Muhummud was sent, they rejected him. How much more help does God have to give? But thats my point you will reject Prophet Muhummud, causing you to turn from the truth so Allah might not guide you.
But Allah guides those who make effort,. Look on youtube some KKK brother, just like that converts to Islam, because he wanted to seek the truth, so Allah gave it to him.
LOOK at the numerous sources the guy below has provided. YOUR OWN FREE WILL, read it or reject it.
I'm going 2 sleep.

Dear djmantx....
Firstly apologise me if this writing do stir your sensitivities in any manner.
I am equally not well versed in the method of reading the Quran, what more to properly interpret the contents thereof. For your kind information, there is a strict discipline, rules and knowledge pertaining to digging information from that holy book, where even most Muslims are not adept at to begin with. This includes the discipline of nahu-saraf, asbabun nuzul and a few other areas that we may not be properly exposed of. Even if a single alphabet went missing in the Quran, it would carry a differrent meaning than what it is supposed to be in actual sense. There are verses that should be read conjuctively and at time disjunctively and at times some verses supersedes the previous one. Therefore, it very dangerous to interpret the Quran according to self interpretation without proper discipline and knowledge, we may fall prey to confusion and mislead others. Thus it is better to clarify it to the professionals who really understand it. For example, if I were to record your whole life and statements, if I were to playback your statement of saying "yes" whilst the appropriate answer should be "no" then I would successfully mislead others of your true intentions and opinion.
Some words in the Quran are "mutasyabihaat" in nature and beyond normal ways of expression to justifiably represent its true meaning. For example some surahs begin purely with Arabic alphabet such as Alif, Lam, Mim - who are we to interpret this properly.
Your attempt to mix up Surah (Chapter) 14 and 4 of the Quran is in clear breach of the above discipline and knowledge protocol. As I have clearly mentioned elsewhere, the words of the Quran and hadis has to be looked upon at the point of incidence of its revelation (asbabun-nuzul). It could be taken out of context due to human linguistical limitations.
If we were to blame God for delaying in revelating the truth for 600 years, why not start blaming Him for continually sending down over 100,000 apostles (Muslims believe that there are over 100,000 apostles sent) across the time span only to have some of them killed, ostracised or desecrated by their people. Perhaps humans owe equal share to the blame by refusing a fair chance to have Him explain the truth through His messengers.
Wallahualam (God Knows Best)
Quote:- [The second I feel seems to demonstrates this in action. My real point is that the Quran has Allah saying he deliberatly misleads who he chooses to mislead]
If that [quoted above] is the real concern, then the verse is meant to explain that why certain apostles fails even to guide their own next of kin/wife/children from their very own flesh and blood lineage.
It shows that the final power to move hearts and faith falls in the "hands" of Allah after due message had been delivered by his Messenger, and not in the hands of the messenger himself. This was demonstrated in the case of prophet Noah who failed to win over his son's faith despite been offered the protection of his ark during the great flood. Noah's son perished in that flood without acknowledging his truth as a messenger.
Sorry for misunderstanding your true question.
