No joke, you get chicken feet at dim sum places and I wonder how much you actually eat - I thought maybe the bones might be softer in the feet and maybe you can eat them

Chicken feet are a part of chicken that is eaten in Chinese and South African cuisine. The majority of the edible meat on the feet consist of skin and tendons, without much muscle. This gives the feet a distinct texture different from the rest of chicken's meat. There are many small bones which may make it difficult to eat for some, and are often picked out before service. Being mostly cartilage, chicken feet are also very gelatinous.

Some people eat the smallest bones, but remember, humans cannot really digest bone meal. The claws are almost always trimmed off before cooking.

The point is that they are full of collagen. Asian (women mostly) eat chicken wings and feet for the collagen. It fights wrinkles and puffiness, strengthens nails and hair, and helps to rebuild cartilage. When you make a chicken stock correctly, it turns into gelatin in the refrigerator. That gelatin is collagen. That is why the best chicken soup is often made with a package of wings or chicken feet.

My mother grew up poor, so nothing went to waste at the farm.

I remember growing up, I watched her eat the chicken's feet. She ate the skin and tendons.

I don't touch the stuff myself.

Eat the skin and tendon. It's not gross, I promise. Just a chewy soy saucy taste.

Besides being an Asian food item, y'all ain't from the south since you don't know that it's also Cajun and Southern. Chicken feet soup is fine, and for crying out loud, you'd all eat rotted milk cheese and not try chicken feet? C'mon. Food is food.

YUk, are you Chinese by any chance?

My 4 yr old son said to me on monday, "daddy mummys food is too crunchy, you eat it daddy, mummy put too many bones in my chicken"

Well I used to just scare the girls at school by chasing them with chicken feet, pulling the tendon to make the claws wave at them.

Oh I feel sick, don't eat it man, you never know where they stood.
