If you buy into Yahoo's measurement of success then you have nothing to worry about until you near level 7. Level 5 is only 25% of the way to level 7.
What is your measurement of success? If it involves the acquisition of knowledge, then you might not want to ask any questions. If you are trying to avoid success, then answer questions because you won't learn anything and you'll just regurgitate information.
If your measurement of success is how much you help others, then don't answer questions, just focus on your own needs and ask questions.
If your measurement of success involves both learning and helping, then you have a problem.

You could try spending a little less time on Yahoo!Answers, or maybe even converting your fear of success into a motivator to do something else, not necessarily successful but maybe useful...
Or go read a book, either way, you might not want to define success as reaching level 5. I'd go for the book...
