Um... you are a bit obsessive. What part of animal is confusing to you?
Animal- 1 : any of a kingdom (Animalia)
typically differ from plants in having cells without cellulose walls, in lacking chlorophyll and the capacity for photosynthesis, in requiring more complex food materials (as proteins), in being organized to a greater degree of complexity, and in having the capacity for spontaneous movement and rapid motor responses to stimulation
----- -------- ----------- ------------ ------
So, let's put our minds to this task here.
Cow = animal
Fish = animal
Chicken = animal
Carrot = not animal
milk = not animal
rock = not animal
bug = animal
egg = not animal (when unfertilized)

Vegans don't eat anything that came from an animal.
fish flesh = animal killed
milk = animal not killed
chocolate covered grasshoppers = animal killed

Well, milking a cow doesnt kill it, and an egg is an UNFERTILIZED product-the hen discards it, and has no need for it (like a human females period) so there would be no loss of life to an animal, making both dairy and egg suitable for vegetarians. Since I refuse to support the meat industry in ANY form, I get fresh, raw milk straight from my own cow, and organic, free range eggs from happy chickens that friend keeps, I have no guilt issues with either. My cow has more than enough milk to feed her calf, and would become uncomfortably engourged if not milked. I churn her cream into fresh butter and make homemade cheese with the milk. I consider it a gift from her. I use vegetarian rennet to make the cheeses, so again, no animal is harmed or dies to satisfy my appetite. Its all a matter of personal choice and conviction.

There are different types of "vegetarians". True vegetarian (most often called vegans) do not drink milk, eat eggs, wear fur, or use leather. Other vegetarians may be doing it because they simply do not want to kill an animal, in which case they do not feel bad about drinking milk (though, of course, it amounts to the same thing).

If you reread your question, you'll realise that milk is not an animal! The reason is because animals get killed for their meat, were we don't kill milk so we can drink it. However, most veggies progress into vegans, and they don't wear, eat or drink anything that comes from an animal.

Vegetarians can eat milk and eggs. It's vegans that eat no products at all. Vegetarians just don't eat meat.

They probably don't know how bad milk and eggs are. i became a vegan when i found out.Animals do get hurt when making milk and eggs. they get pumped with hormones and make milk for way longer than they should and their babies get taken away and they go to veal farms. they live about a quarter of their life span. i noticed how people above were saying milk isn't bad.

Vegetarians do not eat dead animals.
Although the milk industry requires the death and inhumane husbandy of cows, some veggies see that as ok.
Unfirtilised eggs are not animals, although this industry also requires the premature death of hens and poor husbandry.
Many veggies choose to buy free-range eggs at the farm gate - at least they see the hens running around the yard & fields.

welll, i happen to be a vegetarian and i *don't* drink milk or eat eggs.
(or cheese, or yogurt, or sour cream, or cream cheese....etc.)
my reasoning is that the dairy industry is just as horrible to the animals as the meat industry and they are not getting any of MY hard-earned money.
not all vegetarians consume dairy food.....
