I really do not think that my life, or lifestyle would improve if I emigrated to the U.S.
I enjoy visiting the U.S, and find the people friendly, and the scenery beautiful, how ever as most Americans, I too am proud of my country and her achievements.
My family are all in Canada, and I think I will stay here, and enjoy having good neighbors to the south.

Never. I'm a proud Canadian. I love to visit the US and have a lot of friends all over the States but I will never move there.
Your medicals costs are out of this world and while you don't have waiting lists so many people down there just can't afford basic care.
Your judicial system is a joke as this article says. Our own isn't the greatest but come on!

Not to mention the idiot judge that was trying to sue a dry cleaners for $millions over a pair of "lucky pants". LOL
I'm quite happy where I am. I guess the only good point may be a little less taxes but the cost of health care would soon outweigh that.

Uhh well I'm not sure if i would.. i am very happy where I am right now in Canada, it is a beautiful safe country and i love it here, but there is nothing wrong with the states, but no i wouldn't because I have grown up in Canada and love it, and as for "Biffnasty" if you even paid attention in school you might have learned a little something on Canada and also how to read.. "For Canadians?" you are not Canadian and I'm so happy you aren't next time it says "For Canadians" don't put your opinion in because you aren't Canadian and we don't want your ********.. also we have electricity, running water, and i don't even own a flannel shirt.. why are you so obsessed over Canada? That's all you do is try and put us down with the same stupid information that isn't even true.. sounds like you are a little obsessed with Canada.. ?

No way, eh. Like the saying goes "nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. I can't think of any advantage where my life would improve by moving to the US. I'm not saying that my life would suck there, I just don't see any real benefit that I don't have here.
And, there are definitely down points to moving there. The obvious one is health care. I've kind of gotten used to my doctor asking what's wrong, not how am I paying for this. That, and there's a reason for all the anti terror paranoia. It's really not being paranoid when there actually is someone out to get you.

ok, to "biffnasty", you obviously haven't been around for the past.. 500 years. Canada is just like the united states when you cross the border, you can't even tell the difference. The only people in canada living without electricity or running water are the 10 000 max. inuits living in the north of the land, and that's nothing compared to the 33 million people of canada.. and considering Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world.
to answer your question, I don't think my life would improve except for the fact that there are lower taxes in the states, and you definitely get more bang for your buck in the US... just look at the price of cars: a car in canada for $90 000 goes for at the most $60 000 in the US... it's a joke

As an anglophone in Quebec, I would say that we would be giving up the French-English debates, have lower taxes, lower gas prices, better weather, and better infrastructure.
On the other hand, depending on where I went, I'd be dealing with complaints about illegal immigrants, higher crime, anti-war/anti-bush/anti-usa sentiments, and terrorism. (Let's face it...there is a reason travel agents in the US sometimes tell tourists to stick Canadian flags on their luggage or where it on their lapel...)
If I were to move down there, it would probably be someplace like North Carolina or Pennsylvania. The people are nice, the climate is pretty good, and it's a bit more laid back than other states that have major cities in them.

Areas of the US are just as different as areas in Canada. The old Confederacy is as evil as Nazi Germany and the seem to be running things these days in Washington. New England and California are OK if you stay out of the big cities and maybe their influence will grow soon. Canada's Conservatives have not had as much time to lie and cheat as their American cousins. If you are super rich it probably doesn't matter unless you're Conrad Black. If you're poor, stay in Canada-you won't get murdered.

Ok, for the ignorant people; AMERICA is a continent hence the name United States OF America, keyword OF.
Anyway, I moved from Montreal to California 6 years ago because I met a California girl!!! Otherwise, I would not have moved. The cost of living is extremely high, real estate is way too costly but it is great to be able to use the interest from my mortgage as a deduction off my taxes.
Healthcare is extremely pricey, good thing I work for a big company who provides it. Sales tax isn't too bad compared to the GST and PST or HST but it depends where you live.
Did my life improve by moving, only because of my girl otherwise there's nothing the US has offered me that I would say improved my life.
Oh wait, I don't have to shovel snow anymore but damn it gets hot over here.... ughhhh!!!

My life wouldn't improve. I would never live in the United states. Plus, we got a more peaceful country.

I would certainly consider it. In some states the weather would be nicer. There may be more job opportunities for some.
Edit: What's with you people giving me the thumbs down for this answer? - I would consider it - I'm not saying you have to consider it. For weather, are you going to argue with me that Florida in February isn't more appealing than Winnipeg (weather wise)? And as for job opportunities, yeah in my field and many others the US market is several times larger than the Canadian market. I have worked for 2 of the last three years for US based companies on contract while still living in Canada. I know for certain that if I were to move to the US I would indeed have more career options. Don't be so closed minded.
