I'm making my son's 1st birthday party in a couple months. We're doing a jungle animal theme. I don't know what to put as centerpieces on the tables. I didn't want to buy paper/cardboard decorations that say "Happy 1st Birthday" because you'll just end up throwing them away. I feel that's a waste of money. Perhaps I could make something cute that guests could take home if they wanted. My in-laws suggested we just buy animal toys.

The stuffed animal toy idea is great - there are many wonderful stuffed jungle toys out there that are reasonably priced - I saw puppets at the 1$ store that were great jungle animals not too long ago.

I do remind you that Baby at age 1 will not care about the party one little bit. So plan the party around the adults. Plan on adult food, adult decorations and adult activities.

I agree approximately making him sense as though he's your guy or woman son! ( i used to be in foster care and that i constantly felt out of place whilst Christmas and my birthday got here to visit.) I plan on throwing a jungle themed occasion for my son's 1st birthday later this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. another recommendations are: -Winnie the Pooh -Sesame highway -finding Nemo -Lil' Slugger -Barnyard -Noah's Ark -infant Einstein -Rubber Ducky

We did just a "summer fun" kind of theme with my daughter's recent 1st birthday party. We did pink sand pails with green handles, filled them up with sand and stuck in the yellow shovel that came with the bucket. They matched the pink/lime/yellow color scheme we used, instead of a bunch of cheap-looking themey stuff, and we got them in the dollar bin at Michael's craft store.

Go look in the dollar toy section of your local Target, Michael's, Walmart. I know at Party City they have a really cute inflatible monkey that is less than $5. If you could find some other inflatible animals you do a different one at each table and put some jungle-looking plants around it.

Look around and let your creativity come out! Remember, look for something that you can re-use (we'll be using the sand pails at the beach in 3 wks), not too expensive in case a wild kid breaks it at the party, and kid-friendly!

Buy something that you can embellish or add to but dont stress yourself out! I did alot the week of the party and we all really enjoyed ourselves even though we had 50 people at the party!

I like your in- laws idea. Jungle animals would be a fun idea. Go to this site and look for the monkeys that have th long arms. I think people would have fun hooking them on different parts of their bodies. You might find something you like better. Their items are quite inexpensive.

Potted Bamboo Plants - they kinda look like mini "jungle" trees and would be a perfect gift to send home with guests. I would much rather take home a plant (something I'd use) than a stuffed toy (something I'd get rid of).
