So you like to hunt and fish.
Whats that got to do eating cows ? Why lump all animals into the same group just because you like to kill for sport. There is no correlation between hunting and commercial farming.
Many people are stupid, can we eat them ?
You haven't presented any logic.
But you have hit on anti-vegetarian cliche numbers 7 and 29:

Congratulations on being so predictable !
Hitler wasn't a vegetarian, he reduced red meat intake because of a colon probelm. Its so well documented i think people mis-represent this on purpose. Who cares anyway.
Mr S Hussain was probably a meat-eater, does than invalidate YOUR diet, or are we sticking to double standards today ??
Crystal: I hope you know that when you start a discussion with "vegetarians arent healthy at all..." we all miss the rest of the text becasue we fall about laughing.

It's a state of mind. A vegetarian may not want to cause the death of animals for food. Sometimes the flesh feels akin to human flesh and vegetarians get disgusted off it just like omnivores who find a finger in their chili.
The reason most pacifist leaders and "forward thinkers" are vegetarian is because they extend their peace with living beings beyond the human.
Not sure where Jesus stood but some people want to associate vegetarianism with him too. No opinion there.
As for who made cows stupid and delicious, it wasn't God. It was Man (humans). Cows have been selectively bred for centuries based on the quality of their flesh or their milk yield. Same thing with chickens, goats and sheep. None of these animals are left with any defense and generally trust humans to "keep" them (until they end up in food) because only the tasty, docile ones were allowed to breed.

"The wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the kid, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze; Their young will lie together; And the lion will eat straw like the ox. They will not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain. " Isaiah 11:6-9
Also, the only meat Jesus was recorded to have eaten was fish and it was only consumed on two occasions, when he was attempting to prove his physical Resurrection.
When god gave man five animals clean to eat it was after the flood when god was punishing man for his disobedience. He took away the plants and declared that they could eat the meat only if it was not slain. This is from the gospel of holy twelves
"Jesus answered; and the flesh of slain beasts in his body will become his own tomb, for I tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself, and whoso eats the flesh of slain beasts eats the body of death."
Also from Genesis 5
"And your life will I seek, at the hand of every creature you slay."
If you are Christian please take some time to read and reflect on the bible. Your choices are your own but I at least think that if you are misguided about this you may be misguided about other aspects of your religion and you owe it to yourself to learn more about your faith.
Oh, Hitler was not a Vegetarian. He was a hypocondriac who had doctors inspect all his food for disease prior to eating it. While he did not eat red meat he did eat chicken and fish but that does not constitute him as a vegetarian.

For many people it's simply a diet or healthy lifestyle. For me, it is spiritual. I don't think God wouldn't approve of the way animals are treated on today's factory farms. ( http://www.meat.org )
About the cows.. Why would a compassionate God create beings capable of feeling pain, suffering, and a desire to live, if their only purpose in life was to suffer and die at the hands of humans?

HITLER WAS NOT A VEGETARIAN
He had a special "publicist" that was in charge of promoting Hitler as superhuman and his status as unattainable by any other man. Part of his campaign was to have people believe that Hitler had a level of compassion far exceeding that of the common people. Obviously it was all a lie and there are many documented incidences which describe him dining on many forms of dead animal.
How could someone thought to be so pure of heart as Jesus, the son of God, have a less compassionate diet than a black-hearted atheist such as myself? =) It makes no sense. Please refer to itznotsamwich's answer.
Many people are extremely stupid AND arrogant. Why doesn't anyone try them out and see how they taste?

For some of the religions that promote not eating animals, it is due to the idea of showing compassion for animals, which may help a person spiritually.

Your not supposed to eat meat according to the bible. God ate fish but that was it. He had to live like a man so he ate fish. But in genisis it says not to eat meat just like before eve ate the fruit. The lamb and the lion slept together. Your supposed to respect all living things. But it isnt a sin or anyhting to eat meat. Oh and you eat other things more often to substatute for meat.

Vegetarianism does not make one "higher spiritually" nor does it mean a "healthy way to life". Food cannot make one feel spiritually higher or lower. It is the way one's thought process works or is made to work that makes that effect. Also there are enough of vegetarian recipes that are in no way healthy.

vegetarians arent healthy at all the reason salad makes you lose weight is because it is not nutriciuos but it fills you up so you are using you fat reserves and losing them and if you look in the bible it says that god put the animals here for us and that he put them here for us to use and so pretty much as long as we arent cruel about it kill them like we hang them and after an hour of no oxygen they finally die and then we eat them if we do it quick and painlessly then it is okay in gods world and its okay if we do it and in the bible if jesus wasnt a vegetarian and god didnt like it then he would have punished him because in adam and eve he punished them when they did something wrong so he would have punished jesus if he wasnt supposed to be a meat eater then he would have told him it was wrong.
