My Dr. prescribed them to me for nausea, the bottle says it may cause drowsiness, and I can't sleep.

One of the possible side effects with promethazine is sleepiness. The drug is an antihistimine of the H1 receptor class (for allergies and motion sickness or nausea) and you should not combine it with alcohol or other drugs that make you sleepy. I WOULD NOT take more than the recommended dose, (so do not take 2) nor should you take something to help you sleep while taking this without talking to your doctor.

I checked out your med promethazine(it is for nausea and can cause drowsiness.) you say 1 pill doesn't work you can't sleep, I say call your doctor before you take more then what he prescribed because there are different mg to this med. Never doctor on your self when you get a medication from the doctor, you should follow what was prescribed. CALL THE DOCTOR.

It depends on the dosage.

1) I wouldn't take a medication for anything OTHER than what it was prescribed for, there are a lot of OTC medications out there that will help you fall asleep.
2) Depending on your size, I would not go over 25mg, if you need more than that to help you relax to fall asleep, there is something else going on...
