Don't trust anyone when it comes to herpes and other LIFE LONG diseases.

A lot of people who "trusted" someone, including me, now have a LIFE LONG disease like herpes.

The ONLY way to fully protect yourself from herpes is by being abstinent.

If you are going to have sex though, the best thing you can do is to use condoms EVERY time. It's also a REALLY good idea to get tested, as well as your partner, BEFORE you have sex. That way you'll know for sure if you or your partner have any STDs before you have sex or do anything sexual together.

Good luck!

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

The #1 Herpes Cure Program?

Somewhat. The only way to be sure you never, ever get it is to have sex with one person your entire life and for that person to only have sex with you. But since that rarely happens anymore....always always use condoms-they protect against much worse things than herpes, like HIV. Don't ever sleep with strangers-condoms don't always protect against the skin-to-skin contact that can cause the spread of herpes. Make sure you know someone well before you decide to have an intimate relationship-someone you trust and know cares about you and your health. And, most likely, someone who doesn't care isn't gonna hang around to build up trust and have a real relationship when they just want to get some. Be smart, respect yourself and others, and be careful.

Make sure you and your partner both get the blood test for HSV before having sex (you have to specifically request it). Always use condoms - even for oral sex. 22% of the general population have Herpes, but most people don't even know they have it.

Herpes is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, not through bodily fluids. Therefore condoms do not give you 100% protection.

And yes, you should only sleep with someone you trust.

Well, the problem with Herpes (HSV-2, genital form) is that you may not even experience an outbreak or "initial herpes" for up to 2 years from exposure. It can be spread from touching, kissing, and sexual contact. It is best to use protection IE: condoms with sexual contact. Avoid oral sex, especially if there are visible sores that are not well healed. Herpes, oral & genital, is a very common viral infection. They are both viral and are closely related but, different. Basing any STD on trust, is a gamble. There is no cure but, there are ways to lessen the symptoms and, fortunately, there are several anti-viral medications that can reduce outbreaks and their severity of symptoms. There are specific blood tests that will indicate exposure to HSV-1 ( oral herpes) and HSV-2 ( genital herpes ). I hope that this helps.

No, do not rely on someone else being "truthful"....only you can rely on yourself...wear a condom each and every time. That is the only way to protect yourself (and others).
