My cat and I lived with my parents; about 3 years ago, I moved out, but left him so it wouldn't be such a drastic change for him. About 3 months ago, I brought him home with me and he has been perfectly fine until about 2 weeks ago. No other animals have been in the house since he has been here.

Just an update on my kitty!! I realized that I bought the wrong cat litter!! He is used to Fresh Step (he is very picky about his paws getting dirty!) and I accidently bought Johnny Cat; the urine does not clump up with Johnny Cat. So, I bought Fresh Step Scoopable, scrubbed his litter box, replaced the rug in the area with a new one and I haven't had any trouble since!! My kitty is very happy to have his fresh kitty box back!! And, the area does not smell like cat urine!!!

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

Well, there are a few factors to consider here. One of which is his age. He may be entering the first stages of senile dementia. Yes, it happens to cats too. He's old and in a new place. It may be hard for him to remember where he's supposed to go in such a sudden change. Be patient and keep showing him where his litter box is.
You might also want to take him to the vet. Some cats will go outside of the box when they have a urinary tract problem. Using the box HURTS suddenly. So they stop using it. A simple antibiotic may solve the problem.

When my 14 year old cat started to pee in the house alot (which was unusual for him) we noticed that he waz also a little more tired than usual. I took him to the vet and the doctor tested his urine and found out that my cat was diabetic. This is something that happens with certain cats as they get older. I had to give my cat insulin shots every day. It was a lot of work, but worth it for my kitty. Definetlyget him checked out soon so it doesn't get worse. Check out Felinediabetes.com for more info also. Good luck! I hope everything works out.

He should be acclimated by now. Have the vet check him for diabetes.
Our old cat Muffin was 13 years old when she started doing that. We took her in to the vets for a check up, and it was discovered she had diabetes. The vet said it looked like she had it for a while, we were surprised because she was fine for so long.
She was given an insulin treatment and I had to give her shots everyday for almost a year. But she got worse and we had to put her to rest.
Have your cat checked out.

I have an elderly cat that started doing this as well. basically just "old" and starting to fall apart.. she's 20. lol.... also, a good thing to know if you cat is just getting old... has he/she stopped grooming himself? if so, this is proably due to old age--but it's a good idea to get a check up!!!
and, I have a younger cat that started doing this....his was a urinary tract infection... got cleared up w/ meds from the vet...

Take him to the vet. My cat started peeing in the tub. I took him to the vet and he had crystals in his bladder. It was very painful for him and I am really glad that we took him in when he did. Now he is on a special diet and doing great.

The house might have other "critters" coming in and out or moving about that you might not know about.
But given his age, you might want to get him checked by a vet, because there are a few things he could have, all which need to be treated by a vet.
Also, it could be age-related incontinence...

Because of his age, he may be developing kidney disease. It happened to our cat when she was about the same age.
