I recently started taking it. Only I am baffled about something,...I have been suffering for a long time with heartburn. Since I started taking the med it has caused the heartburn to stop. I know that sometimes heartburn is a camoflage for heart problems. I do have arrythmia,..but haven't had an EKG in years,..having one done within this next month though. Has anyone else experienced this with this med? Do you think it is possible that it could have been a heart problem and not heartburn?
any help much appreciated

You see we use antacids or other GERD medicines to patients with cardiac diseases, as it gives a false signal to the patient that he is having a cardiac problem.
In the cardiac ER most patient come with burning sensation in the chest, and in most of the cases it turns out to be a GERD or peptic ulcer.
In case of heart problem it is diagnosed on EKG/cardiac enzymes; and the pain is not relieved by i/v Inj. of antacid e.g. Zantac, etc.
Any acute change in EKG/elevated cardiac enzymes is diagnostic of some underlying active pathology of heart.
No you didn't have a heart problem.
DIURETIC WERE PRESCRIBED PROBABLY OF SYSTEM OVER LOAD OR HYPERTENSION , IT IT THE SODIUM THAT COMES OUT FIRST.
Hope this help you out.
