You do not need any qualifications to do the test, its simple and straight forward. As long as you consent to the test there is no problem. Its no big deal to do the test, the finger is pricked with a lancet and the blood put on to a test strip...a monkey could do it lol.

I work in a large intensive care unit in Manchester as a staff nurse, and I can only check the sugar by finger pricking, only after taking the training session and deemed to be competent for using the particular equipment safely. And also I need to attend an update session yearly, to keep my name alive on the Data system.
If it is the case, I assume, it may also for a personal trainer.

You don't need a qualification to take someone's blood from a finger in order to test for your blood sugar level. It only takes a modicum of common sense.
Technically, the person doing the test should ask for your permission, otherwise it's considered an assault.

No training is needed, but I am not sure why they would want to check it. Blood sugar monitors and their sticks are available over the counter and most diabetics check their own sugars, anyone can do it after reading the instruction book.

Depends how they do it, there are loads of test one use disposable test your own sugar level kits on the market if they used one of these then no problem. But if they are using a needle I wouldn't let them anywhere near you!

I can't speak for GB, but in the States, it doesn't require any great education or any certification to use a glucometer. You can be trained by a nurse or you can just buy one and read the instructions.
