HPV (the virus that causes genital warts) can still be spread even if there are no visible warts.
A LOT of people think that because the warts are gone, then they don't have the virus anymore and that they can't spread it, and that is NOT true.
Just because the warts are gone, doesn't necessarily mean the virus that causes them is (HPV). HPV can be spread by sex (vaginal, oral, and anal) and by DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area (the genital area).
Most people DO get rid of the virus on their own, but not everyone. There is no "cure" for HPV, however most women are basically able to "fight off" the virus. Since there is no "cure" though, some women will have it their entire life and are unable to get rid of it. Viruses have NO cures.
If you are going to be having sex ALWAYS tell your partner(s) that you have HPV and ALWAYS use condoms. Condoms are not 100% effective in preventing the spread of HPV, but they definitely HELP! Good luck!

What is bum-bum anyway ?
Genital warts (or Condyloma, Condylomata acuminata, or venereal warts) is a highly contagious sexually transmitted infection caused by some sub-types of human papillomavirus (HPV). It is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner. Genital warts are the most easily recognized sign of genital HPV infection.
Genital warts often disappear without treatment, but sometimes eventually develop a fleshy, small raised growth. There is no way to predict whether they will grow or disappear.
Although treatments can remove the warts, they do not remove the HPV virus, so warts can recur after treatment. The body's immune system typically clears the virus from 8 to 13 months, but it occasionally remains in the body for a lifetime
So, whatever bum bum is, you still contagious. Never do it without condom.

Please consult with you Doctor about HPV and let them know what you should do in your situation. Usually after being treated with genital warts 25% of people will have a re-occurance.
Usually because your body still has not adapted the virus and therefore hasn't fought it off. Or keep it dormant in your system. After you body keeps it dormant then you should be okay. This takes about 6 months to 2 years. The virus will ALWAYS be there. It's like the chicken pox, or the flue! You'll alwasy have the virus. Your body just knows how to keep it dormant!
Be safe! use condoms, eat healthy, multivitamin every day, exercise and keep your immune system up!
HPV is very common and you have nothing to worry about! Just keep up with your papsmears!

Yes, if the warts are caused from HPV, you are still contagious. You can treat the warts, but you still carry the virus.
