I think that meat eaters need to research their topic and stop belly griping about the malnourishment of the vegan and vegetarian life style choices of others.
the facts are that
Cholesterol (which is only found in animal products) and high levels of saturated fats have been linked with heart disease. Removing animal products from your diet, or reducing your consumption of them, can considerably reduce your chances of developing heart-related problems. Reducing your consumption of animal products can also help reduce the probability of developing certain forms of cancer. For instance, studies have shown that vegetarians have up to 40% less chance of developing bowel cancer. With heart disease and cancer being the leading causes of death in western countries, the importance of reducing our consumption of meat and animal products cannot be underestimated.
A well balanced vegetarian or vegan diet is very healthy and can cut down a number of serious health issues by about 40%. People suffering from diabetes (me) for example have been advised to adopt a vegetarian diet.

Yes, many meateaters come up with stock answers and comments liek "you need supplements", "you lack protein" etc.
Its all rubbish and untrue.
If there were mid-west bible-belt christians do you think they would claim to know all about Budists in Tibet ?? Probably not so its strange how they think they know about the veggie diet when they have no expereince of it.
Nice to see Jessa propagate the myth even further !!. Its a bit of a wild leap to say your sister gets weak because she doesn't eat meat. Life and diets are never that simple. What does she replace the meat with when she stops eating it ?? Anything ?? If she has a balanced vegetarian diet she will not feel weak. Doctors will naturally tell someone to eat meat because they are doctors, and not the guardians of someones morals. To them its not an issue. I think we can safely gurantee that your sister could have a decent high-energy vegetarian diet if she spoke to expereinced vegetarians, and not her doctor.

Yep. It’s sometimes hard for people to unlearn what society taught them. Also, when vegans critisize meat-eaters, they'll just be defensive.
People should know SOMETHING about a topic before talking about it. They don't notice that the people that read about meat, health and biology are often vegetarians since meat-eaters aren't interested in those things.
There's 2 reasons SOME veg's look malnourished:
1 - They were unhealthy before they went veg, and that's why they went veg.
2 - They may have changed their diet too fast
I disagree that humans evolved with meat. I think humans evolved first, leading them to do many un-natural things. We're then simply taught to enherit the lifestyle. But..if a banana and a rabbit were put into a baby's crib..........the baby would play with the rabbit and eat the banana. Every time.
Jessa(below) is jumping to conclusions(did she learn nothing from Three's company??) instead of being informed. If she did some research on this, she'd learn that any time you change your diet, the body has to adjust. Fatigue(tiredness) is one of the symtoms. Also, too much grain can cause sluggishness. After 13 years on a vegan diet, I've learned that when I have a big day - like 3 days ago I drove to Seattle for the RUSH concert(18 hr. day) - I'll have more energy if I don't eat grain and just eat fruits and veggies. It went great!
.............Eat well and enjoy life!

Every bit of research out there is being sponsored by someone, be it PETA or the beef industry. Both of them are selling a product. There is very little pure research out there. Just about every piece of research is paid for by a pharmaceutical, a self-serving organization, or the food industry. You'll notice that none of them agree. If you take a scientist from each of those and have them research whether or not humans should be omnivores, carnivores or herbivores, each of those scientists will give you a different answer with their own version of proof.

There's an article on the inuit people that were primarily "meat eaters".
Pretty much, each group of scientists has their own agenda. It's up to you which one you want to buy into. They each have their own subversive motive.

I think anyone who is giving advice or trying to give advice should do research. My philosophy is to try and prove the other persons point of view first and if you can't give them advice on the research you found. I personally have not found any reason to eat meat therefore I will not eat meat because I have done my research and have not found any benifits to eating meat that a vegetarian diet can not accomplish.

I agree!! I've also learned that if you try to eat meat after being a vegetarian for a long while, one usually tends to get sick.
Human were meant to be herbivores and not eat meat. If you look at your teeth compared to a cat's or wolf's (or some other animal that eats meet) and you will see that their teeth are sharp and meant for ripping and tearing meat. Our teeth are duller and meant more for crushing our food. By eating meat, one is ruining their teeth.
Carnivores should go and do their research. They can't say things unless they are well-read and know what they are talking about.
As for recipes, try anything with meat and try replacing the meat with something. I've had a good stir-fry without meat that had green green peppers, squash, carrots, onions, mushrooms... Other things like that. It's really good.

Research is a good thing for everyone to get into the habit of doing.
Your arguments are more effective and you are less likely to spread obvious myths or look silly :)

coopyey, first off, you are wrong, humans ARE meant to eat meat, but not in the excess people eat it today. We evolved from becoming omnivores.
But, yes, meat eaters should realize that vegetarians are every bit as healthy if not healthier than omnivores before they go criticizing us.

My sister is actually unhealthy because she doesn't get enough meat.
Wow, who would've thought? Definitely not someone as close-minded as you.
If she doesn't get enough meat, she gets weak. A doctor recommended she drink more orange juice and eat more meat.
I'm not against vegetarians, but not every single person in this universe is better off without meat. Sorry to ruin your day.
