I have a girlfriend that is having a hard time controlling her BMs. Now its not all the time but she complains of not even knowing that she feels like she needs to go to the bathroom. Sometimes she thinks all she needs to do is pass gas and when she does its not gas that is passing she actually poops her pants and its runny. If it could be anything else we would love to know what it is. Theres no other signs of HIV but I remember my Aunt telling about a family member that had AIDS and that was one of the signs. My BF is worried sick and since we dont know much about the first simptoms of HIV I thought I should ask someone.

there are a great many symptoms that will show up long before loose stools, and for the most part loose stools are a problem related to medications taken for aids. I doubt aids is her issue. However, she could have other serious issues like Crohn's disease and needs to see a doctor asap, as left untreated, Chrohn's can kill.

Its very unlikely that this person has aids, I have irritable bowel syndrome and this is one of the symptoms. Have her read into it, it affects mostly women and it often starts in the early 20's wich is exactly what happened to me. But I would get tested just to be sure.

Should could be sick and it not be an STD, but even if she is just sick (possibly from something she ate) she should still go see a doctor.

Also if you have anal sex, something may have been ruptured.

Until the problem is fixed I would advise you to go to the bathroom even when she thinks it's only gas.

I know that this must be a scary time for you guys but the best thing you can do for yourselves is to go and get tested right away. Call the Red Cross and they can put you in contact with a clinic in your area where you can get tested for free. If you want to you can do it anonymously if you want to. I know this is difficult (i went through it with my mom) but its scarier not knowing than knowing and getting treatment. Best wishes and good luck.

get tested - that way you can find out sooner and get the meds you need. HIV can be managed to a degree if detected early - by the time you get symptoms - it's probably already developing into full blown AIDS.

It is more likely that she has irritable bowel disease. She would have a lot more symptoms if it were AIDS.
