Overall I think vegetarians might be more aware of nutritional issues and studies have shown that vegetarians live longer than their meat eating counterparts. No. I've been a vegetarian for years. I am anemic and spend a lot of time in the hospital. I eat pills like they are going out of style to keep my "good health". I would love to eat meat if I could.

Each food style is associated with certain diseases and absence of certain diseases. But it is true that you can be quite healthy with a vegetarian diet since you do get animal protein in the form of milk, yoghurt, cheese etc., which is not the case if you are vegan.
