You are absolutely right.
Your friend is absolutely misguided and/or misinformed.
Vegetarians do not eat animals.
There is no such thing as a fish eating vegetarian because an animal eating person who does not eat animals is quite impossible.
P***o- Vegetarian is a made up word used on bunk websites by people who want a label without having to believe in anything.
Even if there is a "pescatarian" it would be no kind of vegetarian (yet again, because of the whole carcass-eating thing.)
Here is a real website with actual information, including the globally accepted definition of "vegetarian."

p.s. While she may just be on some "diet" she could actually be trying to become a vegetarian, so you could always talk to her about her misinformation.

No, I do not think that it is too much!! If she has no ethics and no feelings towards animals, she isnt really a vegetarian. She is just someone who eats less meat to lose weight. That is not a vegetarian to me. I think a vegetarian is a person who does not eat any type of meat except for eggs or dairy and does it for the sole purpose of animal rights, fighting cruelty, environmental reasons, or religious purposes.

Well people become veg for lots of reasons, sometimes it's for health reasons and has nothing to do with ethics... but you're right, people who eat fish technically aren't vegetarian.
Next time someone says they're vegetarian and eat fish, give them a surprised look and say "Really? i didn't know vegetables could swim." :)

It's a little known fact that the fish eating vegetarians are the most healthy type of vegetarian. They get more protein and nutrients then the rest of us. So take it easy on her.

You don't need to get your knickers in a knot about other people's eating habits. Stick to your own values and don't promote the view that us vegetarians can be a cranky lot! I call myself a 'mostly-vegetarian' and I haven't been struck down by lightning if I happen to have some fish once every few months. As for having to commit yourself 100% to vegetarianism, I would call that a bit rigid and unnecessary. 99.9% is good enough for me - it's not a religion, after all!

I dont get mad at a fish eating vegetarian because my bf is one...its like this...we respect what the other one eats. He wont shove his fish down my mouth and i wont preach at why he shouldnt eat fish...
And some chick said that same thing at my school...that she was trying to lose weight before the summer came and i slapped her and told her to get a life and some new morals.

There are some people who call themselves vegetarian who eat fish, chicken and even pork and beef.
I think these people are annoying and confusing, but I guess I can't do anything about it. I do correct them if I get a chance, though.
The one's that eat fish sometimes are called "pesco-vegetarians." I like to call them "pesky-flexitarians."
I guess I shouldn't be so opinated, but I can't help it. I think if somebody commits to something it should 100%.

I would have done the same thing.
You have to be careful though I think, to not make veg*ism seem like an elitist and neurotic club.
