How do you know animals dont have souls? They feal pain like us and they react with fear to other things hurting them, so why do we think they dont have souls?

Thankyou Robert for your rant. you may like to re-read my question. I only asked why people would want to eat meat. If we dont ask questions about our environment we remain ignorant. I never said You have to become a vegetarian - its only a question that you and others are free to answer as inoffensively as I asked it.

Edit to threeshadesofhot: I have 2 degrees, own 3 houses and work as a social worker helping mentally ill people probably like you. Although they don't feel the need to attack me personally for asking a question, so whats your diagnosis?

Robert: Its ok its only a question - I don't know why people are getting so worked up over it. there are loads of anti vegetarian questions posted here everyday that are quite scathing. I honstly did not expect meat eaters to get so upset and personal. I didnot mean to offend anybody - I did not say meat eating was bad I just asked questions and poeple got upset. Its realy strange. Sorry Meat eaters its was just some questions. Wow!!!

Actually its quite hypocritical for any of the meat eaters to criticise and personally attack me. Today I have been told that I have no brains and I am financially supported by someone else, that I dont work and I am probably on government benifits. - all because of my question. I yet again get attacked by Gypsy who knows nothing of this person's answer and my response because the person withdrew their answer. So check out the movie tribute by vaisnius recently posted. Its someone shooting a rabbit and is dedicated to vegetarians and vegans!! This site gets all sorts of nutters trying hard to put down and insult vegans and vegetarians and this is another example. Anfd when I post a question I am personally attacked - I take back my apology for insulting you - grow up!!

This is for threeshadesofhot:
I don't blame you for thinking the person who posted this question is a little pushy, you are entitled to your opinion, but you are making sweeping generalizations and you are spouting blatant misinformation.
Not all vegetarians are dependent children.
I work every day, I own my house, it's paid for, my car's paid for, I'm 50, and I haven't eaten meat for 23 years. Nobody pays my bills but me. Am I strong enough to do a days work? I think so.
SInce you think you are an expert in nutrition, how about this; my wife has been vegetarian for her entire life and she has a Masters Degree in Nutrition, she is a Licensed Dietitian working for a hospital giving diets to the patients, and the doctors never question her ability or knowledge, in fact, doctors have asked her for diet advice. How much education do you have? I'd bet money you have no formal training in nutrition.
Give me the "bad answer" if you like. Everything I said is true.

I really appreciate you for asking this question. I now see how short-tempered the meat-eaters are. As for robert, sad. To all the meat-lovers out there, this is not someone asking you to become vegetarian, its a person asking a simple question that requires only a 1 or 2 lines of an answer not a paragraph or a novel(robert). I am very surprised to read all the rants from the meat-eaters, just very surprised. thats all. Oh, and if anyone wants to put a low-rating on me go ahead, just another reason why people should look at this reply. And, when I mean anyone, I mean the meat-eaters and the vegetarians and vegans.

Look, I personally have no problem with your question, but I would recommend rewording a bit to try to not offend meat eaters. I think more people would take it seriously if it were worded in a less offensive way. Also, what if plants have souls, how do we know because do we even really understand souls or is it just a word we throw out there. Just a thought, and I rarely eat meat , not because I'm a vegetarian, but because I just don't eat it.

We are designed to eat meat, I think it's fine to eat meat as long as the animals have had a good/happy life. I must say I thought your comment that you have 3 houses and suggesting that someone was mentally ill absolutely disgusting - some social worker ! What has the ownership of 3 properties got to do with the wide picture, what a very shallow attitude you have. Money and possessions don't make for a good person.

I mainly eat white meat food, to stuff my stomach on the go... I hate to do that, but eating vegans takes me very long (to get rested), and cost me way too much (I have a big appetite). Also, I spent 27 months in China, eating vegans with only 1500 calories a day!! Can I tell you, that this kind of diet is EXTREMELY hard for a Canadian like me that needs at least 5000 Calories to stay warmed during winter time!!
Come lived our winter in Canada, and let me know if your food make you feel warmer... Its freeking cold here!!!

actual no longer. i don't be attentive to what became into served at that wedding ceremony, yet there are a number of astonishing, or perhaps gourmand high quality non-meat dishes that maximum persons could like, notably if there have been some selections. i'm thinking a spinach lasagna made with entire wheat lasagna noodles isn't in basic terms vegetarian, yet greater healthy. yet there are limitless a risk meals that don't incorporate meat. i assume the couple making plans the marriage needed the meals to be actual to what they have self assurance it. it may no longer be what i could do, in spite of the shown fact that it extremely is their wedding ceremony, and their selection. perhaps they merely made poor vegetarian meals selections. If somebody loves it, no be counted if meat is piled or no longer, returned... it extremely is ther selection. i does no longer do it, yet i do no longer care what others do. i'm no longer a vegetarian... perhaps greater of a flexitarian... attempting to consume much less meat. yet my daughter's a vegetarian, and has been for some years. She's a image clothier, and a ingredient time chef, and teaches some cooking training. She's by no skill ravenous... except she merely hasn't eaten. some human beings merely don't understand, and worse, do no longer hardship to make the attempt to understand, some great reward of no longer ingesting meat, or examine it adequate to understand no longer ingesting meat does not advise no longer healthful. yet judging human beings because of the fact they're obeseis form of unfair. it extremely is the quantity of meals they consume, and the kinds of meals they consume... no longer in basic terms because of the fact they they consume particularly some meat. a individual can nevertheless be obese in the event that they do no longer consume meat. there are lots of severe calorie, severe fat meals that are no longer meat.

Your comment to Robert is WRONG!!!
When you use terms like"meat eaters"and say things about our eating habits like"Dont hurt animals"..You are ABSOLUTELY saying that we should be vegetarians!
I think Robert had the most eloquent and inoffensive answer and if you opened your mind you would think so too.
Dont mix words and then tell us your not saying something that you are!

I eat meat as often as I can...Four times a day at least...Plus I often kill, skin, and cut up the meat myself...
1. Meat is all natural...
2. NOTHING tastes as good as fresh juicy meat...
3.Fkuc "cholestral" My parents and grandparents all lived into their mid 80's....And meat was ALWAYS on the table...
4. When I harvest an animal they do not hurt very long.....I make a clean kill!
5. I do not know if animals have a soul...
6. I do not care if animals have a soul...
But if it makes you feel better....Nothing goes better with a steak than a big salad and baked potato!!!!
Cheers.
Edit:
Oh...And I have my PHD......(Post Hole Diggers

A well balanced meal should include meat, dairy, veggies and fruit.
Recent reports indicate that even vegetarians should eat some meat in their diet.
Basically it is not the meat that is the problem, but the amount we consume.
Before modern machines to help with getting more work done faster, people did more physical work than they do now. That required more calories for energy. Now we sit behind desks in air conditioned offices, watch t.v.,play video games.
Physical labor jobs have machines that help do heavy lifting, scrubbing and waxing floors. Farms have machines to milk cows, plant and harvest crops that used to be done by humans and horse drawn implements. Dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers replaced hand washing and hanging clothes out on the line to dry in the sun. Life got easier (so to speak),but people did not cut back on calorie intake to compensate for the reduced exercise from easier work tasks.
Also, some meats are better for you than others and the cooking of meat is another factor to consider, grilled meat is better for you than fried meat.
Drinking water, milk and juice is better for you than soda pop and other sugar drinks.
In all diets to loose weight, about the first instruction is to drink lots of water.

I agree with you.
I get ridiculed constantly for being a vegetarian. People give me the hardest time about it and then tell me "animals were put here to be eaten" and I just ignore their immature tactics. I don't belittle people for being a meat-eater so why can't I be left alone?
