Your doctor is working for you; you are paying him/her. If he/she is not a satisfactory employee, find another doctor. I have been in healthcare education for 25+ years and worked at a hospital for 4 years. I have seen excellent physicians as well as physicians who make appalling mistakes due to indifference or inexperience. I have been grossly misdiagnosed myself, but I have enough knowledge to take my symptoms to another doctor for more evaluation.

Doctors "burn out" just like the rest of us do and it requires an incredible dedication to see 30-40 complaining people every day. My current physician is one of those few, wonderful instinctive doctors who can look at you, listen to you, and tell you what's wrong.

My wife has cardiomyopathy. Her local cardio always seems to be in a hurry, but her heart failure specialist always seems to have time for her and he takes the time to give complete answers.

So I would also recommend finding another doctor, preferably a heart failure specialist who understands that educating his patients is the best thing he can do to increase their chances of survival and a good quality of life.

If my doctor acted like that, he would be replaced in a hurry!
Now, how to avoid that problem. Before you go to a Dr, ask yourself, "what do I want to ask this doctor." Write it down on a piece of paper, or, better yet. set up a folder in your desk top, , type it up, and save it. print , and when you go, put it on the desk. Then, he can see you are prepared.
and you won't forget to ask something.

My doctor checks her watch to see if her conveyor belt is moving fast enough to get me out of the office on schedule.

Find another doctor, ask if they specialize in CHF. You can also check hospital CHF survival rates on the net.

My doctor told me he is there any time I need him.

I don't have a doctor but my kids do. If he treated me or my wife that way he would not be my kids doctor.
