Hey there, so I had to ask, after watching about the first half of meet your meat, I wanted to throw up and toss all the meat out of my house. (I'm vegetarian anyways.) But my mom and brother arent. Is this true what happens to them? Thanks

Please note, I have nothing at all against PETA. I'm just wondering if this is true, so don't come in here like making rude comments about PETA porfavor.

Yes, it's true. All of that happens and more. Remember that video was made years ago, and factory farming practices are only getting more cruel.

Since that video was made there have been many changes and PETA won't redo the video - it is too profitable for them. Reality is PETA is a profit center and they use that money to further their own concepts regardless of how true it may or may not be - a lighter shade of gray is exactly their color. They say they are for the animals but want to slaughter Hyenas and police dogs - they say they are for animals but prevent food from getting to animals at risk (such as the free grazing cattle in Colorado this winter). If they are to be believed they need to care for all animals not just the cute and non-food ones. They should also be good enough to show the changes they have effected on an industry such as organic farming and free range cattle ranches to encourage the better practices these earlier videos encouraged. They did a good thing bringing the brutality to light but they could do even more by showing how things are and have changed because of it.

Now I’m anti PETA for many reasons, I want to make that clear before I go on. They do a lot more harm then good. Yes I can PROVE it if you wish.
Of course the video is true, some of it may not have been shot in the US, and a lot of the points are out of date. Most of the video is old, but PETA is trying to make a point and is doing so by showing the worst offensives, most were and are already illegal. Now if I took video of “organic” farming over say 10 years and compiled the worst farmers, I’d show you human waste being spread over crops, yum. Rats running over the fruit, vegetables and grains, maggots in the crops, ETC. It would almost make you a carnivore.
But if you eat meat, you are part of the process of killing animals. If you live in a house, drive a car, or do almost anything in the US, you are using animal products, and are part of the process.
Does that mean we need to abuse animals? No. I know there are those out there who think killing an animal is in itself abuse, fine. Then don’t use ANY produces that use animal products, don’t on one hand say killing an animal is abuse then create a demand for those very products.
But if you are part of the process then we need to kill the animal as quickly and painless as possible.
“Is that really how they normally kill the animals?”

Well, this video was certainly not staged, so yes, its a true record of something that happened to animals.
Those production lines with half-dead animals on them are probably still running to day.
Not all slaughter and meat-processing plants are like this, but a good portion are, and there is no commercial plant that considered the animals welfare so all are fairly nasty places.
My Dad took me to a slaughter house when i was 14...not a clever idea, been veggie since that day.
"billyandgaby"...when you say "we" kill them, its "nature"....which parts of "we" are you ?? Probably just the person who hands over the debit card so that hardly connects you to nature and the animal does it ? There is nothing natural about the meat industry.
Rather than trolling around here maybe you need to do something about that self-admitted 40lb overweight....meat/overweight...emmm wonder if there is a comnnection there.
and daillest..wehn you say
"Stop worrying about the torture of livestock and help combat the world hunger (human hunger) problem." do you have any clue how daft that is ?
Part of the world hunger problem is the wests obsession with excessive meat production....meat production uses up far more land and resources than arables so if anyone should be doing something to combat world hunger it is the meat-eaters.

Yes. And if you care about health and the environment, look up some of impacts that raising livestock has on the environment.
As for the guy who mentioned world hunger - most of the grain raised is fed to livestock, which produces far less food than it consumes! On top of that the meat industry is a large consumer of energy, water, and antibiotics! By the way, there's a good chance the meat that is sold in stores is from an animal that died of disease.

Yep, it's true. As someone else said though, those videos were made quite a while back. Things haven't improved though. The last PETA video I saw was pretty recent though, but it was about chickens only. I've found it better that if you're going to show someone videos to get something more recent or else their argument will be "that's out of date so it can't be true." But whether it's recent or a few years of date, it's still true.
Edit:
For the person who said we should worry about the human hunger problem. Um...who said you couldn't worry about both? Or more problems for that matter? You don't have to be so close minded and just care about one thing.

I've been to several farms within Ontario and I didn't see the brutal and harsh living conditions such as those represented in the meet your meat video. Although I do believe that the video is a true representation of the animals that they filmed, and many others that they didn't.
I know someone who worked in a beef warehouse, they shot the cattle. He said some men would come and slit the cattle's throats. It is true, it's a brutal fact.

I don't intend to watch that. But it's true. Every slaughterhouse is like Dachau every day, from sunup to sundown.

ima a vegan...Yea...it is...its like why would peta like hire people to kill animals when they are against it? you know...at least thats how i see it..
its like animals feelings arent cared for simply because they cant talk....or express any emotion that is understandable to us. Most people see them as products so they dont see why they should give a care about their feelings when they will get killed n e ways.
