Cold sores can be transmitted from kissing someone who has them.

Herpes can also be spread by oral sex. Herpes sores can spread from the genital area to the lips of the mouth and vice versa.

But, genital herpes can NOT be spread from kissing someone on the lips of the mouth.

Genital herpes is spread by sex (vaginal, oral and anal) and by DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area.

there are 2 forms of herpes HSV-1 and HSV-2.
HSV-1 is the common "cold sore" found on the mouth or nose. That can be spread to the genitals if a person with a sore on the mouth "kisses" another person's genitals.
HSV-2 can be spread to the mouth if a person "kisses" the genitals of a person with HSV-2.
So if you have a sore do not have sexual contact.

no, these are 2 completely different forms of herpes. Unless the person has herpes on their mouth and touches your genitals then it can.
