Honestly... some people just never stop...
But others will eventually realize that you are not dead or unhealthy and they may lay off you...
I just ignore them when they bother me about that stuff... They will eventually realize..."uh she is healthier that I am..."
My suggestion would be to ignore them, and make it known that you are ignoring them and that you are not listening.
Ahhh I just though... nurses(your co-workers) are THAT uneducated? remind me not to ever go to that hospital...LOL
Good Luck though.

To all the people who wonder why you would let your "lifestyle" be known, I have to say that it's not a thing that should be hidden. Being vegan, whether it's done because of health or because of compassion, is something to be proud of...and you don't have to be "in people's face" for them to know...every time they're ordering office pizza, or getting together for lunch in a restaurant, or sharing an office birthday cake...the vegan/veggie lifestyle is going to show, unless the person lies about it. In my experience, some people behave as though they're threatened by veggie/vegans...like maybe they know what you're doing is good, and they have to make loud harassing excuses ("Well, God created them to be slaughtered!") to get themselves off the hook. Still other people just can't see past the end of their own nose to look at different choices. Truth is, after you give it a few years, and your body HASN'T crumbled, they'll have to stop teasing becasue they're clearly wrong. Be strong in the knowledge that you're doing what's best for YOU...and you'll be fine.

They are intimidated. Most of the nurse aides I know give my mom (the charge RN) crap about not eating meat, and then they go out and smoke. Disguisting, that they know so much about health and choose to be so sickly. You've been a vegan for two years so I am sure you have experienced this before, it is just very hard with coworkers since you spend so much time with them.

Unfortunately, no matter what you do in life, someone is not going to be happy with it. If you really believe being a vegan is the right thing for you, go with it and ignore everyone else. The more you fight with your co-workers, the more they are going to bug you about it.
Good luck!

tell them in a firm tone that it's your choice to be a vegan and they have no right to criticize you or make nasty comments about it.
They should respect your decision..it's your life, girl!
you're not bothering them in any way, so they should just stop fussing for you.
it's about time you assert yourself (if you havent done that yet) and stand up for what you believe in..
coz if you dont, they'll only manipulate you in everything that you do.
prove to them that you are right in being a vegan; stay healthy and stick with your principles.
when they see you really fighting for what you believe in, they'll get the message that you DO know what you're into..

Ignore them. As long as you are at a healthy weight, what does it matter? You've chosen to stay away from meat for a reason. IN the same manner, they have chosen their eating habits. The best way to answer is to tell them it's a choice you made and you feel its best for you.
My dad's secretary was Vegan. She was so neat and explained to me about how the same kinds of proteins and things that we need are in veggies/fruit/nuts but its healthier for you. . .

You should probably ignore them and not discuss it. Aside from that, you could probably find out if they "unknowingly" like the work of actors, musicians, etc... that are vegan (i.e. if they enjoy the work of vegan entertainers why should they have a problem with you being vegan).

OMG, how rude. If I were you, I would completely ignore them. There is NOTHING wrong with being a vegan, as long as you find a way to get protein and such from other sources instead of meat. Way to go, I admire you for it. I can't even go vegetarian cuz my family is too meat-addicted.

depends on why you went vegan. If its for a dietay purpose then tell them to MOB. If it is for the animal cruility purpose then you should know that many other foods have animal bi- products in them like Jello and marshmellows . Also you should not use perfume or makeup they also use animal fat in them.

Let them know you are happy with the lifestyle you have chosen and end it at that. You shouldn't have to justify your decision. Smile and walk away when they continue to badger you.
