By definition, yes, the flesh of any animal is meat.
Some people only call the flesh of land animals meat, while others only call red meat "meat" (which is rather odd, since the word "red" is used to break it off into a category of meat.)

But if you are asking from a vegetarian standpoint, it is best to remember that Vegetarians do not eat animals.

It doesn't matter what you call the flesh of an animal, a vegetarian does not eat it. This is a great and helpful site.

Meat is the flesh of a dead animal. Fish are animals, so it follows logically that fish is meat. Vegetarians do not eat fish. If she wants to keep fish in her diet, she may do so and is making a perfectly valid choice, but she will endure the ire of vegetarians if she falsely labels herself that way.

The term "fish" is most precisely used to describe any non-tetrapod chordate, i.e., a animal with a backbone, has gills throughout life, and have limbs, if any, in the shape of fins. Unlike groupings such as birds or mammals, fish are not a single clade but a paraphyletic collection of taxa, including hagfishes, lampreys, sharks and rays, ray-finned fishes, coelacanths, and lungfishes.

A typical fish is cold-blooded; has a streamlined body that allows it to swim rapidly; extracts oxygen from the water using gills; has two sets of paired fins, one or two dorsal fins, an anal fin, and a tail fin; has jaws; has skin that is usually covered with scales; and lays eggs that are fertilised externally.

There you go > it's meat!

fish is an animal, it is meat! (not sure how people miss that fact..) she can still eat fish, she just wont have the label of "vegetarian" or if she wants to be a vegetarian she can slowly cut it out of her diet until she is just eating it once a week and then *bam* just stop consuming it. i know it can be hard for her, giving up something that she loves, but it really will help her body, her environment and the animals (plus we are over fishing the seas!)

Fish is not meat, u sillies. It is a delicious fruit from the cow tree. When baked in delicate chicken crust, fish sugars are caramelized, taking on a wondrous pig like flavor!! Also fish smoothies are the best!! Take one part Grouper, two parts Tilapia, and just a touch of Salmon, blend and enjoy!! I planted some really hardy varieties of lamb legumes and they are coming along nicely. FYI they are best picked young much like veal peas. cook these two together in a nice duck sauce and what you get is the under educated people of the country. Jeez.

1. meat -- (the flesh of animals (including fishes and birds and snails) used as food)
2. kernel, meat -- (the inner and usually edible part of a seed or grain or nut or fruit stone: "black walnut kernels are difficult to get out of the shell")
