My husband says buy them a little green and they will ripen in the fridge. I say if they are green, set them in window sill to ripen.
I would just rather buy them ripe enough to eat now!
What do you think?

When you buy tomatoes that are under ripe, both options you listed are wrong. You should put tomatoes in a paper bag for them to ripen evenly and have good flavor. When they are ripe, you can keep them on the counter in a bowl, even in the sun if you'd like. Only refrigerate a tomato once it's been cut and use up within a day.

Tomatoes are always best ripe. In fact the only really good tomatoes are fresh from the garden. Mine just started ripening for the season.

My husband says to keep the tomatoes out of the fridge! The sugars get changed into carbs and they lose their flavor. I also work at a whole foods cafe and we keep all our tomatoes stored at room temp.

if they are in a closed container...bag...tupperware they will ripen a little more because of the gases they give off.
they will also ripen in the window but you need to watch them, it's how my mom taught me.
best is fresh and ready to eat...off the vine or from the store.

wrap them in brown paper veg bags either you buy them green or red they will stay fresh in the fridge for t least 7-10 days

Do not store tomatoes in the frig. if you want a good taste when you eat them. store at room temp. and they will have an off the vine taste.

well if you grow them and u have a Lotte of them you can wash them off and fast freeze them and they stay good like that or if you get them from the store you just buy what u need and eat them right away like you said ,
