Love Tofu its all in the type and prep. It has no flavor on its own.

The funny thing about tofu is that it really does not have any taste when it is eaten alone. Tofu absorbs the flavors of whatever it is cooked with or in. Perhaps you have not had it cooked properly. While tofu is not my favorite thing in the world, I do enjoy it in lo mein when it is cooked with all the sauces...

Then again, if you have tried it several ways and you still hate it, then most likely you just are not a tofu person. No shame in that. We can't all like every food on earth.

First time I had it, I purchased it at a chinese restaurant - I hated it. A few years later a vegetarian friend invited me to dinner, and served me some tofu. It was delicious.

I have since learned to make my own. I eat it three times a week.

I do appreciate you viewpoint, wanting to know if you are the only person who hates it. Most non-vegetarians i know, assume that everyone hates tofu. When in actuallity more people on this planet choose to eat tofu more than just about any other specific main ingredient.

There are so many different ways to have tofu. Yes, basic block tofu has a distinctive texture and almost no flavor. You really have to make sure the things you are serving with it can lend flavor to the tofu.

But there are so many other things that you could be eating, why bother with this one if you don't like it?

I haven't been able to make tofu work as a meat substitute so much (for me) , but I do enjoy tofu in traditional asian recipies. Personally my favorite ways to eat tofu are agedashi tofu - dredged and fried, then served in a dashi broth, and yuudofu - a mild stew with onions, tofu and mushrooms.

I love tofu. The texture to me is also fantastic.
Many people hate tofu. I have eaten with people who cringe when I take a bite as if its a live animal I am biting on the @$$. Not fun.
Tofu is very versitile. You dont just eat it on its own. Although you can. I always have it as a meat replacement or in some sauces to dip it in. My favorite is to take Thai Peanut Sauce and pour it over cold tofu, then eat that. YUM!!

I like tofu, but not by itself. It has a bit of a chalky taste, because of the calcium salts added to coagulate the soy extract. There's some rather poor quality tofu out there, and yes, they taste horrible. Maybe you need to be Asian or live in Asia to know and enjoy really good tofu.

I love spicy, fried tofu with noodles! You're not the only one who hates tofu though! It's one of those foods where it really depends on how it's cooked to determine if it's good or not. It gives vegetarians/vegans other options instead of just veggies :)

I agree that if you hate it, you probably just haven't prepared it right. I've had tofu that tasted horrible and some that tasted great. Same thing goes for just about any other food out there.

Clearly not everyone likes the same things, so rest assured you aren't the only person on the planet who "hates" tofu...
