I love sushi! Japanese consider the rice the most important ingredient with fish being the compliment. The fish must be fresh and of a very high grade. People that have only had "take out"type sushi would be surprised how different expertly prepared sushi tastes. There is no fishy flavor or rubbery texture. When people tell you it's digesting, just smile.

I like sushi, except for the ones containing raw fish. My favorite is the California rolls.

Yes, YUM!!
Most people think sushi is raw fish but it isnt, sashimi is raw fish. Sushi is rice wrapped up in seaweed. I love veg sushi especially avacado..oh my oh my oh my!!, shrimp sushi, egg sushi, and salmon. I hate crab, octopus, squid, roe...so I avoid those. Sushi orders include things both raw and cooked, so you have a choice. If you go, ask your server and let them know it is your first time. They can help you through the experience.

Love it love it love it!!!
I like the nigiri more as a rule, because it's clean and simple and I can eat lots of it. However, I do like occasional fancy maki (rolls). It's expensive and unsatisfying, however. Also, many sushi rolls here in the US are mayonnaise-laden, and I hate mayo. I don't see what's the big deal about eating raw fish. It's definitely better than eating rare steak. Just make sure that you go to a trusted sushi restaurant. DO NOT eat sushi in some China Buffett restaurants, because they don't use fresh fish.

Sushi is absolutely wonderful! Many people think it is disgusting is because when they think of sushi, they think of raw fish. But not all sushi has raw fish!

I love sushi! It's my favorite food! My favorite kind is imitation crab meat uramaki. I also like the shrimp over the pressed rice. Sushi is absolutely not disgusting! It tastes incredible! And I love the use of avocado in a lot of sushi. Avocado is such a refreshing (fruit?) when paired with the fish and rice.

Hey DQ people who tell you things like that have no class.
all my experiences have been with Sashimi. One time my Sushi was wrapped in a very thick rubbery seaweed but other than picking it aside the sushi was delicious.

Definitely.
Yellowtail tuna nigiri is probably my favorite, closely followed by "tako salad" (octopus with cucumber and daikon radish) and "battleship" sea scallop (where the nori wrapper makes a little bowl on top of the nigiri style rice patty and they fill it with chunks of raw scallop in a flying fish roe sauce). Dang, now I'm hungry again.
Some of the fancy "dragon" rolls, where a maki style roll is topped nigiri style and then sliced, are very good. I had a "Hawaiian Dragon" roll recently that was shrimp maki topped with seared tuna and mango. Yum!
