theres not really any way to describe it but it is really nice depends where you buy it some are peppery others not so much, full of calories though! I don't know why so many people are getting freaked about it being made of 'animal insides' I'm sure it's alot better for you and wholesome than some of that crap you get from McDonald's, full of additives to make it taste like chicken even though it's skin, ground up bones and any other rubbish from the chicken they can't sell on it's own. It's actually just oatmeal and the worst thing that would be in it would be liver or heart!! And even then I doubt that alot nowadays.
Anyway, why wonder, just try it it won't kill you!! Have it with neeps (swede) and tatties (mashed potato!!) You'll love it!!

It's lovely! I'm English and tried Haggis for the first time on a trip to Scotland in March. I've bought and cooked it a few times since then too. It's just like spicy mince, it's not dry at all, whoever said that obviously didn't have it cooked properly. Don't be scared of what's in it, if it tastes good then eat it!!! x x

I'm Scottish and eat haggis quite a lot. My husband, who is English, also loves it. It's the spices in the haggis that make the taste. It's hard to describe the taste but I would say it's like a peppery oatmeal.

hi there it is difficult to describe the taste, i find it quite nice it is not to overpowering a bit like mild meaty taste, it is the seasoning in it that determines the end result, i find the majority of haggis is peppery, if you fancy trying it you can buy it in a small tin rather than buying fresh and maybe wasting it, i have also tried the vegetarian version and it is lovely, it is more the texture of haggis that puts people of rather than the tast, the texture can be grainy, but try it you might be surprised.xx

It tastes kind of spicy, but it is usually ground lamb with oats and spices cooked in a sheep's stomach. I am American and live in Scotland, and have tried it once, not something you can eat a lot of. My husband's family who are Scottish say the vegetarian haggis is very good.

We have just arrived in Romania from the states to help my FIL and my FIL's partner's daughter and husband just arrived from Scotland a few weeks ago. Being a little homesick the conversation almost always ends in foods from home and what we miss. But somehow haggis is always brought up as being gross and scary....and a few horror stories that my in-laws tell of their first time eating haggis.

A good haggis is like manna , a bad one can make you a vegetarian for ever .... only kidding : haggis is minced offal of sheep (sometimes pork or beef) with oats , onions and pepper , boiled in the sheep's stomach and it's a great dish , tasts like minced sheep and if it's well made ... hmmmmm
Just great with mashed neeps (turnip) and tatties
