What does your mom and/or dad think? Your doctor sounds like an idiot. She needs to work with you to adjust your insulin to fit what you need. It sounds like you aren't getting enough insulin if you are running consistently high. Do you tell your doctor that you don't snack? Before your next visit to the doctor, write down everything that you eat plus take your blood sugar every time before you eat, plus two hours later, plus before bedtime, and maybe even a couple of times in the middle of the night. Do this for about two weeks. Take all of this information to your doctor, and if she still isn't willing to adjust your dose, it's time to start seeing someone else.

sounds like you may need more basal insulin and/or a different carb/insulin ratio. Check out www.childrenwithdiabetes.com There's tons of info there. snacking shouldn't make a diff if you take enough fast acting insulin to cover. Puberty usually means higher doses of insulin are needs than ever before. It doesn't mean you are insulin resistant but all the other hormones that you body is producing are increading therefore insulin which your body would produce if you were not Type 1, needs to increase also. Please ask you parents to take you to a pediatric endo or to switch. remember that testing before the 2 hours after meal/snack produces a 'dirty' number and you may well drop to normal range if you wait to test until 2 hours after. Also, test before meals and when you give yourself the insulin to cover the carbs give it about a 15-20 minute lead time to start working before you eat (unless you're on the lower end of your target range; you don't wan to go low). By the way, you should be really proud of yourself for taking the initiative to try to better car for yourself. My son is 4 and he's type 1 and I can only pray that he will be as responsible as you appear to be. Kudos!

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. There is really only one answer: more insulin.
As others have said, make you're not testing too soon after eating.
Also, what is your HbA1c? That's a good indicator of how your long-term health is headed. At your age, it should be below 7.5. When you're an adult, it should be below 7.0.
Also, your menstrual cycle can really mess up your blood sugar. Are you noticing a lot of highs just before your period? You may have to seriously increase your insulin at that time.
But you shouldn't have to figure this out by yourself. You need to be with a caring pediatric endocrinologist, hopefully one with a good diabetes nurse educator who can help you make the adjustments.

It sounds like you need more insulin. If you are on shots you need a long acting insulin and every time you eat you need to take a short acting insulin. Perhaps the insulin pump might help you. I been on the pump for the last 7 years and I will never go back to the shots

You may need to have your Mom to go in with you
Keep a food journal with what you are eating and how much
you may want to go to a different Doc one that would listen to you but bring your Mom or Dad with you.
some people just need higher doses of insulin
to keep their sugars under controll
if the Doc will not listen to you you need to get another one
Because you are right the lower you keep your sugar the better your chances of not having other things go wrong
What are you eating??
if you are eating
white bread
white rice
or other processed foods
they get into your system as fast as if you ate white sugar
I am diabetic
and I have found high fiber foods work the best
try to eat
beans not the yellow or green
lentils
legumes
whole grains if you are buying bread dempsters is the only true whole grain bread out there unless you go to a bakery
try to avoid white sugar / white flour/ white rice / processed foods
if you eat one of the foods you should avoid eating fiber with it will make it go into your system slower
when foods go into your system fast your blood sugars go very high
but eating foods that go into your system slower you will have lower blood sugars.
think of it this way
say you eat 2 slices of bread if they are white bread they get into your system with in 20 to 30 Min's
if you eat 2 slices of whole grain bread it now will take them
4 to 6 hours to get into your system

What do u mean by snacking? u must be taking far too much of sweets things or Elsy your sagger level need not go so high if u are into insulin I think u are confusing your Dr. as well Stop your sweets if u want to live till100!!!!

Reduce carbohydrarates, fat and oils in the diet.
Increase fruits and vegetables in the diet.
Eat less quantity of food each time.
Eat food more times a day.
Do exercises daily.

talk to your doctor about taking multivitamins, a good one should help with your blood sugar. but be careful which ones you take because most are made to substandard quality controls, ie food preperation standards, rather than medical staindards. the comparitive guide to supplements, by lyle mcwilliam is a guide to which supplements are the best. see if you can find a copy and go from there. even if they dont help, they definately wont harm you either, and will improve your general health also
