Well, drink a big glass of water to fill yourself up. Then, when you eat, don't do anything else like watch TV or read. Just eat. And eat slowly so your body has time to tell you it's full. The boredom is something you'll have to deal with yourself. Sure there isn't a closet that needs cleaning out?

You seem concerned about controlling how much you eat at home. You can help this by only shopping for amounts you Really Need. Go ahead and stock up on lots of healthy fibre-rich low-cal foods; mainly fresh veggies. So if you feel the urge to really eat more, those should fill you up without being detrimental. Avoid bringing home extra potatoes or pastas and other starchy or fatty or naughty goodies.
Drink plenty of water; a lot of the time people think they are hungry, but it is actually thirst! somehow the brain miscommunicates the message!
Your main problem seems to be boredom! So get out there, join some new groups/clubs/activities/hobbies that keep you out of the house and/or otherwise enganged. The new activities will be a benefit, whether physical or mental! Try learning a new art or craft, join a walking or some other nature club, cycling, book groups, get a library card and take up reading or volunteer for a charity- you also will reap the reward!
Constantly overfilling your tummy will not fill some other unknown void in your life. Now get out there! :)
All the best! Good luck and have fun.

First of all DONT east just because you are hungry. Read a book, watch tv, listen to music, or go for a walk. Ask yourself if you are REALLY hungry. Drink a big glass of water first, it helps you over eat. Make small portions of many types of food so you dont just consume one item. The size of your fist is a good indicator of how big a serving is. Or chew gum, it rids your mouth of any bad taste in your mouth, keeps you occupied, and off food.

Try to stay mentally and physically busy. I stay mentally busy trying to help people with answers. Try to give the best answer possible--it will make you feel better that you have helped someone, and it will help you too-by keeping your mind off food. You may not feel bad that you overeat, but obesity is the number 1 health problem in the United States now. Overweight leads to heart problems and diabetes which leads to even more heart problems. You cant live without your heart!

get a hobby or find something to do so you're not eating out of boredom. eat more fiber and protein to keep from getting hungry in between meals. find healthy snacks for when you have to eat something.

Are you getting enough protein? That's one reason people feel hungry. Try to get more soy, veggie burgers, peanut butter, eggs (if you eat them), dairy (again, if you eat dairy), and whole grains. I chew gum to keep from boredom eating.

Get rid of your easy-to-grab snack foods. If you have to put effort into cooking something and taking 10 minutes to do it, you are going to spend that time thinking about if you are actually hungry or not, good luck!
