I was wondering if insurance covers all the tests they do for all the major STD's?????

Syphilis
Gonorrhea
Chlamydia

As far as I know, yes, insurance will cover these tests during your physical or during a pelvic exam. They even usually cover HPV (via Pap Smear). The only one they won't cover is herpes, unless you do it with a prenatal screen.

Then again, you don't have to rely on insurance for these tests (except for Hep B) if you decide to visit a public health clinic. PH clinics are usually free of charge.

As a healthcare provider I have never seen an insurance that did not cover these the same as they cover any other lab tests. I usually put as a diagnosis "exposure to STD" and they will pay.

If insurance coverage for an STD was my concern, I would contact my insurance provider. If they are unwilling to cover testing for STD's, contact your local Planned Parenthood. They usually operate on a sliding fee basis so as not to cost too much.
