I think that would be great. I get so frustrated when I go shopping because I always have to read the backs of products for the ingredience. Everything is always in such small type. I don’t really trust a lot of products because the ingredience list is often vague. Yes, a label or something would be most helpful.

They do have labels on many things that state "vegan" or "vegetarian", but if we were to put that responsibility into the hands of the USDA, we would see the definitions of both quickly deteriorate. Just like the USDA "organic" label which makes numerous exceptions so that large corporations can put the label on their products and make money off of the organic market.
If someone is serious about being veg, they should research and read ingredients and avoid having a lot of processed food, especially if it is unhealthy or not geared towards their diet.

Yes! I've thought that for quite awhile & it's frustrating when I'm reading a label but *still* not sure if the product is vegetarian b/c of so many cryptic-seeming ingredients.
All products, not only food but personal care & household products should clearly let the consumer know whether vegetarians & vegans would feel good about buying them.

It would be great. I saw this as a question a few months ago and some people got pissed off that vegans/vegetarians wanted something like that. Like it's a big huge deal to change the packaging and whatnot, and why do we deserve special treatment? *sigh* It's not a matter of special treatment, but there is a whole group of people who are a lot more likely to buy a product when it is clearly marked as something we need.

yes, like right next to the kosher symbol, like someone here said, a V and something else for vegetarian, and a V for vegan.

I would love that. I hate standing there in the store reading ingredients on every single thing I buy. That would make it so much easier!

a big green V with a plus sign in it for vegitarian, and just the V for vegan...that'd be awesome.

Great idea! So many ingredients people forget about or don't realize aren't veggie.
