I bought unwashed mushrooms and just before cooking it struck me whether the black fibres under the bud must be cleaned completely. but i was lazy to remove for so many mushrooms so i just tossed them in the pan.
any harm ?

one more question- is mushroom a vegan dish?

black fibers? I think you're referring to the "gills".

Those are edible. However, for those large portabello mushrooms, some people scoop out the gills while others leave them in. It's a personal preference thing.

I, also, know people that like peeling their mushrooms. That's too much work for me.

Yes, I believe mushrooms are vegan.

No harm done at all. Those "black fibers" under the cap are the gills of the mushroom. They are supposed to be there.

To clean fresh mushrooms, take a damp paper towel and wipe them very carefully, being sure to remove any clumps of dirt that might still be on them. If they are very dirty you can rinse them quickly under water and then wipe them dry but do not soak them in water. Mushrooms are like little sponges.

Yes, mushrooms can be part of a vegetarian meal.

There isn't any harm but it does drain the meal of it's flavor. If you are using portobella mushrooms I would recommend spooning out the under parts but for gremini, button, or shitaki mushrooms I wouldn't bother. They are completely safe though.
