I was dating this guy about 4 years ago. I broke up with him because he was cheating. I met this wonderful guy and we have a child together. I got tested for HIV twice when I was pregnant. Both came out negative. My guy got tested last year and came out negative. I took a test yesterday and have to get my results today. I am so scared that I could have HIV from my ex. I have not been sick, I just ready to move on with no regrets. I was wondering should I be worried about it, because I am constantly thinking about it.

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU ALL TALKING ABOUT???

if you don't know the answers to her situation then don't answer them, especially with little knowledge about the virus. first off if you tested twice after you broke up with your ex approximately 4 years later correct? and you came back negative, that means you're negative, 4 years after a possible exposure is a reliable test result, and you most likely weren't even exposed, why are people talking about ghonorrhea? and your man was tested for HIV last year and came out negative as well, more reason for you to relax, no if and or buts, you're negative.

You are going to worry until you get the test results back. I don't have a statistic for you, but I do know you are more likely to get things like herpes and ghonorhea first before HIV.

Take a deep breath and say a prayer (if you believe in that sort of thing)..and I'm sure your results will be negative.

But if you were tested twice for HIV while you were pregnant..and that was AFTER you broke up with the guy that was cheating, wouldn't that mean you are still HIV free??

Maybe I'm not following correctly.

But good luck..

Well you've been tested twice, your spouse has been tested once and the results were negative, so I wouldn't be worried (esp if you aren't feeling any symptoms). Also, HIV is a big thing, and so if your ex boyfriend tested positive for HIV, then the doctors would have had to inform you and asked you to get tested too. It's been a long time. I think you are bieng more paranoid than you need to be.

I don't think you have much if anything to worry about. Although the HIV virus can lay dormant for up to 10 years, you separated from a cheating boyfriend, gave birth to a sweet child with a wonderful guy, and you are moving on with your life. Congratulations! Now move on with your life knowing that you did many things right including give life to a beautiful child of GOD. I would say that you are in the clear by now.

The window for testing negative when youre actually positive is 6 months, it sound like you are past that time period.
