Japanese food typically use fresh and natural ingredients, so I guess that qualifies it as healthy. And sushi is really delicious, too! :)

Even by health conscious American standards, the average Japanese diet is very healthy. Like the French, the Japanese insist on fresh ingredients. Look at their populations. A slightly chubby American is way fat by their standards. Japanese people have the longest life spans of any population. When I was there I hung out with Japanese friends and we drank and ate fried tempura and went out to eat and stuffed ourselves. When I got back to the states I had lost 25 pounds.
