Yes, diabetics can get poor circulation due to changes in the walls of the blood vessels in the legs, neuropathy (nerves have a mylelin sheath around them & diabetes damages the sheath, resulting in pain (sometimes rather sharp).
But, the pains could also be due to potassium deficiency and many other conditions. Please take her to her doctor and find out for sure, so the correct treatment for the condition can be started. You don't want this to get worse because it could be serious.

Diabetics are prone to bad circulation in their legs. You have to watch many people lose toes and in bad cases even a foot if it gets bad! Most insurance will even pay for diabetics to see a podiatrist (foot dr) just to have their toe nails clipped because it can be risky if you accidentally snip your feet! It can be a serious problem and she should be seeing someone regularly to make sure she is not having problems with her feet and legs. Dehydration can also cause leg cramps, so in this heat going on in most of the country, I would recommend drinking a lot of water and see if that helps but would talk to her doctor about keeping an eye on her circulation so she can make sure if it is related to diabetes that she takes measures now to make sure it does not get worse. Good luck.

It is possible that the leg pain is from being a diabetic, but it is also possible that she has what they call RLS, Restless Leg Syndrome and there is medication for this. The first thing I would do is contact her doctor and let them be the judge of what is going on. Is she insulin dependent.....does she take her insulin? All questions should be directed to her doctor just to make sure nothing else is going on. Good luck.

It's called Diabetic Neuropathy. Her nerves are dying from the toxicity of uncontrolled sugar levels in her blood.
