When I stopped smoking, I apparently went through some kind of automatic detox. It was like having a cold for 2 weeks but without the fever or body aches. It sounds like this is what you're going through & when it's over you'll feel great.
The same thing happened when I stopped eating meat, oddly enough.
Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking & good luck with it. I know it's tough @ first but it's so worth it.

Hello,

(ANS) I stopped smoking many years ago, but what I can tell you is that when you give up smoking seriously. Then your body starts the long hard process of trying to recover from the damage you've done to your lungs, so the fact that you feel dreadful is a good sign, it means your body is trying to get rid of all the rubbish you put into it.

You will feel dreadful to begin with but I'm sure if you stick with it, your health will definitely improve. And my guess is that your asthma will improve too in the long run.

Stopping smoking will seriously improve your health in the long term, including reducing your chances of heart attack, and a wide range of other respiratory conditions. Such a bronchitis, etc

**What ever you do DON'T go back too smoking again, that would be truly tragic, I know this sounds odd to you right now but believe me your FAR better off without the fags.

Best Regards Ivan

Don't worry - my doc told me when I packed up smoking that the first 3 months will be the worst. He said I would get every illness going and he was right. I had coughs, sore throats, headaches, aching joints - you name it and I had it. I promise after three months you will feel better. I have not smoked now for over 2 years and my chest no longer wheezes, I don't cough and I don't even think about smoking. I used the patches given to me by the doc. and within three months, I had stopped. So keep it up and don't give in. You're athsma will feel bad because you won't be coughing so much to clear your lungs, so go to the doc and possibly get a different inhaler to clear the mucus from your lungs.

Your body it trying to get rid of all of the tixins from smoking, and you are probably experiencing withdrawal symptoms (similar to the withdrawal symptoms drug users experience). Stick it out, you will start to feel better.

Congrats on giving up, keep at it

you will feel ill for a while, your body has to get rid of all the crap the smoking caused. you will probably start coughing loads of mucous off your chest. you will feel better , although this may take some time. it will all be worth it in the end.

I think your body is just working to get rid of all the toxins and nastyness, of coarse I could be wrong, in which case you might want to "consult a professional" lol

edit: here are some of the withdrawal symtoms: http://www.quitsmokingsupport.com/withdrawal1.htm
