If you are a mild snorer, the plastic device might work.... it depends on the type and severity of your snoring. These devices usually pull the lower jaw slightly forward to further open your airway. The best thing to do is to get a sleep study. They wire you up like a marionette and monitor/analyze every aspect of your sleep.

There is simple snoring (just an annoyance), and obstructive sleep apnea which can actually shorten your life if not treated because you actually stop breathing at instances throughout the night- plus your quality of sleep is usually terrible

The only apnea treatments are painful surgery (which only works on some people) or a CPAP or BiPap mask. The masks are very annoying but they are quite effective.

I don't think they totally prevent snoring. They might help minimize it by keeping the nasal passages open, but that's it. Most reviews I've read on the breathe rights strips are mixed.

For some people-they are cheap enough to be worth a try.
