it might be a delicata, my favorite squash. sweet and delicious.

I just cut mine in half , remove the seeds and place it in a baking pan with a little water in the bottom. Bake it around 350 for like 15 min, or until it's soft enough to stick a fork in easily. A little butter and brown sugar, oh so good.

Delicatas are about the size of a 6 in sub. They are pale yellow with dark green stripes going lengthwise.

Sounds like a yellow squash, or some kind of hybrid between yellow squash and zucchini. Or a yellow acorn squash.
