There is no "cure" for HPV infection, although in most women the infection goes away on its own. The treatments provided are directed to the changes in the skin or mucous membrane caused by HPV infection, such as warts and pre-cancerous changes in the cervix.

Any virus that we come into contact with, usually is a life long illness, with periods of no visible outbreaks or less infrequent outbreaks. The virus stays in our bodies and can re-surface at anytime, weeks, months or even years. The Human P.virus has now been identified as the cause of abnormal Pap Smears with cells showing " atypia or cells that are not normally found on a Pap Smear. Today, there is a relatively new vaccine that can help prevent HPV. But, once you have had it ( the actual diagnosis of HPV) then it lies dormant in the body. HPV can be treated . First, there is the Colposcopy test, which is quite uncomfortable. Should this procedure show HPV then the next step is the LEEP Procedure. This is the treatment. After a LEEP has been performed, a woman is required to have Pap Smears every 3-6 months for up to 2 years( depending on the severity of the HPV). Once this occurs, then only once a year Paps' are recommended. If a woman tests negative for the HPV and the vaccine is given, this will produce antibodies in our system to protect against the actual disease. Basically, it is not that different than the Chicken Pox and Shingles. Both are viral infections and are actually, the same virus. However, once you have had the Chicken Pox, more than likely you may not contract Shingles. But, some people will catch both. There is a vaccine available to people who have never been exposed to the Chicken Pox. However, this is not a sure bet that the vaccinated person will never catch the Chicken Pox or Shingles. Should such people contract Chicken Pox, it is usually more of a mild form of the virus versus a severe reaction to the virus. I hope that this clarified your concern. It can clear the INFECTION but not the virus. You will always have the virus IF you have certain strains of it. There are 100 strains of HPV. Most people get it and their immune system just gets rid of it, treating it like a virus (i.e. a cold). Those are not the kinds that cause genital warts or cancer. And no...herpes is not hpv, HPV actually isn't an STD but more people know what it is by calling it an STD not an STI, which is that hpv is.

The vaccine is only effective if you get it BEFORE you contract the virus. And HPV is a VIRUS...just like Herpes is...so there is no "cure". There have been some (rare) cases of "spontaneous remissions" where the virus was no longer detectable in patients who had previously tested positive, but like I said, these instances are rare and I wouldn't depend on that happening. To make my point short, HPV is lifelong like Herpes...the Gardisil vaccine is only a way to prevent "most" types of HPV....there is no cure for it

Not if you consume a lot of Brassica vegetables. They have a compound that is currently used to treat RRP tumors caused by HPV and is in phase III clinical trials for Cervical Dysplasia also caused by HPV.

Diindolylmethane (DIM) Brassica vegetables potently modulates the immune system with potent anti-viral properties.
