1. 100% biodisel. Did you know you could collect old used cooking oil and filter it similar to the way coffee is filtered and stick it right in the tank of any disel vehicle and that car will run?
2. Electric vehicles. The batteries need charged but if you live in somewhere like California, Flordia, Airzona, etc.. they can be easily charged up with a solar parabolas or cells. Just have extra batteries and cycle them, use the ones that are charged while the one's being charged are beign charged.
3. Take public transportaion. Public transportation here runs off natural gas. 45.00 a month for unlimited rides across 4 different counties, thats pretty cheap compared to what gas prices are.

Unfortunately, this is more of a political effort than an practical effort. We've had, for decades, alternatives to fossil fuels. The problem is that too much money is made by the fossil fuel industry, and the people are making it are not too willing to let go of it. Worse, money drives policy and regulations (not voters as we're led to believe). Yes, we can vote on new laws, but where do you suppose they originate? Lobbyists make tons of money by pushing laws through the process and out to the voters...and the policies concerning fossil fuels and their replacements are driven by the petroleum industry. The current timeframe of the switchover will be driven strictly by the ability of the fossil fuel industry to make their own switch to producing the replacement fuels and thereby continue making their money...no time sooner.

By finding or developing something better. Maybe nuclear fusion. Maybe bio fuel. But you cannot just stop using fossil fuel without replacing it with something better, just like you cannot stop giving the baby milk without starting to feed him solid food.

Who can remember when mum and dad brought home a bag of coal to throw in the fireplace? Weird eh?
The coal industry is investing billions of dollars to "clean up" coal burning. Personally.. and I know I am going against my own trend here... I am all for more R & D. The problems as I see it, are that we have for too long depended on one majority fuel source.

by using alternative energy resources such as geothermal energy, hydro generated enery, wind and solar power
i.e. solar panels, wind mills,
and also bio-diesel
but the first thing is to be open-minded to new ideas and try them out because it is time for a change in the way we power our electronics and we need new cleaner and greener energy resources

In the name of all that is sacred, WHY??
Fossil fuels are cheap. We've developed our technology around them. We won't run out for hundreds of years.
Are you nuts?
Are you one of the fractional minority that thinks fossil fuels are bad?
Get REAL!!!
