ONE TRUE CHURCH WILL NEVER HAPPEN UNDER THE POPE'S LEADERSHIP. SOME CONSIDER THE POPE AS THE ANTICHRIST! AND THEY HAVE VALID REASONS. TRY TO TALK TO PROTESTANTS ESPECIALLY SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST, YOUR MIND WILL BE ENLIGHTENED!

I think that the Catholic Church is *a* true church, but not necessarily *the* true church. Orthodox Churches are also true churches, and possibly (though probably not) the Anglican Churches. In my opinion, a "true church" has apostolic succession. Protestant communities are churches, but if they don't have an unbroken line of apostolic succession going back almost 2000 years, they are not "true" churches in the sense that the pope means.

The immorality of much of Catholic Church history has nothing to do with it. A church can be "true" and yet have a corrupt hierarchy. Apostolic succession does not imply that the successors of the apostles will be saints. Also, if only 20% of Catholic beliefs come from the Bible, remember that Catholicism is not a Scriptura Sola faith: it also (and perhaps primarily in some ways) relies on tradition, said to be from God.

Yes, the Catholic Church is the one true church.

I was Methodist and converted to Catholicism 10 years ago. I have come to the conclusion, through prayer, scripture, reading the ancient fathers, and reading theologians that Catholicism is the right path.

Your obvious misunderstanding of Catholicism is very superficial. I was protestant and I know the things you have mentioned here are commonly thought of as truth and no one really tries to find out what really IS the truth.

There are many misconceptions about the Church...you've named a few. Read up on it...go to http://www.catholic.com and join the forums there. If you really want to KNOW the truth then you must seek it. Even if the truth turns out to be different then what you've always thought or been told. The real pearl is the absolute truth and should be your desire in seeking Christ.

You have too many erroneous statements to adequately defend the Church using historic and biblical explanations here on R&S.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.

While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:

Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.

Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.

All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 819: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm#819

With love in Christ.

I think there is only one true 'church' and its NOT the pope's. In the Holy Scriptures, Jesus is quoted as saying that a person could recognize his true worshipers by their acts. And that many people will do great things in Gods name but Jesus says that are not acceptable to God because they are not doing what the Holy Scriptures say.
Would Jesus offer blessings to soldiers of war?

>>Is this church the true church?<<

I used to hate the Catholic Church. After I spent about 6000 hours researching that question, I was forced to conclude that, yes, the Catholic Church is the true Church.

I think the pope is a joke...he does make sure that he always has enough money to wear Prada,however,....and the catholic church has always taken as much money as possible from the people who could least afford to give. I had no respect of the institution before and even less now..What a self-serving corporation that church is.

Well, do you need anymore convincing that Catholicism is a false religion?

Keep abstaining from the unclean thing; get away from it and don't turn back. In the end, this means your life.

Nothing more needs to be said. Just don't dwell in Catholicism as your relationship with Jehovah God should matter to you; your standing with God.

I don't think there is one true church, or ever will be and I think some of your "facts" are a little off.
