I'm not a racist and I know there are some people of all races who don't tip. but there seems to be a large percentage of African-Americans who choose not to tip. Any thoughts?

There's going to be a lot of people pissed at you and your statement. You will be accused of racism and generalization.
However, as a career server in an upscale family restaurant, I can attest to the fact that the majority of black patrons do not tip or will only tip a dollar or two, regardless of the amount of the tab.
Truth is truth, no matter how much it hurts or is politically unpopular.

The black waiters and waitresses I work with will agree with my statements, and often sigh in disappointment and complain the most when seated with a black family. They know they will receive a low tip, no matter how great of service they provide.
I haven't a clue why blacks don't tip.

Doctors are low tippers too.

White businessmen are the best tippers.

Smokers tip considerably more than non-smokers.

A couple on a date are usually great tippers.

People who order rare or medium-rare steaks tip more than those who order well done or medium-well.

A couple on a date that smoke and enjoy cocktails or wine with their rare steaks and lobster tails is money in the bank!
Ka-ching!

Two white women who order one salad and two plates to share it will be horrible tippers, no matter how great the service. They always have a snotty attitude about it too and usually look down on wait staff as lower lifeforms. They eat up all the free bread and drink ice water with free lemons. They are just plain cheap and should stay at home.

****You can see an example of their superior/snotty attitudes just 2 answers below mine!

A young family that orders crackers for their baby is going to tip low, and always leaves the table a mess with crushed crackers and goo on the floor.

People who act holy and are active church goers are low tippers...doubly so if they just came from a black church.

Ask any waiter!

As your waitress, I see ALL the tables and patrons, not just you. An answerer might say, "I always tip and I'm black", but that is only one person. Not everyone is the same.

Some folks may get offended by my statements. That is not my purpose. I am stating fact and truth. Let's see if the censors misinterpret it after someone complains about racism. This is honest observation of a topic I know about.

It depends on what type of restaurant type of service you get. As an Black women, in casual dining restaurants my service is normally crappy. The server is less friendly, so she only gets 15%. When I go to a higher end restaurant the service tends to be better and so is the tip. I tip based on service. Perhaps **servers** should consider their attitudes when performing their duties. If I have to call you several times to refill my drinks, if my food is not prepared properly and I have notified you several times, if you have a rude and rank attitude, no I am not tipping you well at all. Oftentimes this is the type of service that black people receive in restaurants. So I don't know if my service is bad because I am black or if it's just a bad server. That is not a luxury that I have. I don't feel above any particular job because all jobs are necessary, so I am not a rude patron but I expect a certain level of service.

You should see the behaviour of Afro-Americans when they are in Africa. They are extremely rude to the Africans and treat them with contempt. They have a nasty, god like attitude and expect Africans to worship them. I find Afro-Americans to be nasty people and very vindictive. They should respect black Africans more as they are the roots of their blood. To make matters worse, those are the same Afro-Americans that plead suffering because of slavery that happened hundreds of years ago and yet they treat their African cousins worse than slaves. They should be ashamed and should not be deemed fit to use the word Afro. Africans are far better mannered and show much respect to others.

i think of eyeshadow could be for night time, except you place on glasses each and every of the time. i'm greater partial to water-resistant eyeliner/ water-resistant mascara for sunlight hours eyewear. in case you're desperate to apply shadow, use shade in accordance on your contemporary hair shade, eye shade and the organic undertones on your epidermis. Seal the shadow with powder that complements your skintone. many females individuals of shade have attractive epidermis. So purely use a sprint dab of shadow as a spotlight. save the super flashy shimmery stuff for night time. wish this facilitates.

Are you a waiter that you ask this?

Tipping for anyone is based on quality of service - myabe they aren't tipping because they aren't getting what they see as decent service.

I've been both sides of that table - I know the job, and know that sometimes it can be hard. But good treatment of customers always comes first.

I'm totally offended by a particular response to this question. I ALWAYS order water with lemons because I am a kidney patient, not because I am cheap. If I had a waitress like you, I wouldn't tip at all because I don't think snotty nasty teeny-boppers should be rewarded for doing a lousy job at their place of employment.

Having said that... I always tip unless the service is really bad (like aforementioned snotty waitress). I tip 20% as a minimum, and if they did a really great job, I ask for a manager and tell their boss how pleased we were with our service. I even ask if there's a card I can fill out to go in their file.

I'm not black. I have no idea where you live, and if things are different there. But here, I've never noticed a difference in tipping.

Sorry I didn't really answer your question. I hope you find your answer...
