Salam alikom brother and sorry for the long answer
Jesus peace be upon him was a prophet sent by Allah to guide people. Jesus did not come to change the basic doctrine of the belief in One God, brought by earlier prophets, but to confirm and renew it. In the Qur'an, Jesus is reported as saying that he came: "To attest the law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you; I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear God and obey me." (Qur'an 3:50)
and if really the followers of Jesus (pbuh) considered God to be their "Father," then how did they regard Jesus?
"And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet." - Matthew 14:5 (compare with Matthew 21:26)
"And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee." - Matthew 21:11
"But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet." - Matthew 21:46
"And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:" - Luke 24:19
"The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet." - John 4:19
"Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world." - John 6:14
"Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet." - John 7:40
Indeed, how did Jesus himself describe himself?
"Nevertheless I (Jesus) must walk to day, and to morrow, and the [day] following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem." - Luke 13:33
And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.- Matthew 13:57
This is once again confirmed in the noble Qur'an:
"And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel! Verily! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was [revealed] before me in the Torah"- The noble Qur'an, Al-Saf(61):6

Well, here's the thing. I do have something to say first, so I'll get it out of the way. Even IF Jesus had come right out and said many times that He was God, and it was in the Bible, would you believe it? If you are a Muslim, then it's likely that, like most Muslims, you believe the Bible is corrupted. So I come back to my original question: Would you believe it?
In John 14, Jesus comes right out and says, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." You can start at verse five, and read the whole thing for yourself, here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=50&chapter=14&version=31
In Matthew 10, verse 40 specifically, Jesus states that if a person receives Him, then they receive the one who "sent" Him.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=47&chapter=10&verse=39&end_verse=41&version=31&context=context
Many people use the passage in Mark 10 as evidence that Jesus isn't God, because He told the man that "no one is good -- except God." There is one interesting detail that they miss, though. The man fell on his knees before Jesus, and Jesus DID NOT STOP HIM. Many times in the Old Testament, people fell on their knees in front of angels, and the angels stopped them. People fell on their knees in front of the prophets, and the prophets stopped them. Why didn't Jesus stop this man?
In Mark 11, verses 27 on, Jesus was asked by whose authority He was doing what He was doing. His answer is VERY interesting. You can read it here:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%2011:27-33%20;&version=31;
In Luke 8, Jesus amazed His disciples by being able to control the weather, simply by rebuking it. "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."
In John 10, verse 30, Jesus DOES come right out and say that He and God are one in the same: "I and the Father are one." And what happened? "Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him..."
The reason that Jesus doesn't come right out and say it all the time is because the people attempted to kill Him every time He even hinted. And even though His ultimate mission was to die, ALL of the prophecies had to be fulfilled first. He had to be betrayed by one of His disciples, even riding into down on the back of a donkey had to happen first. It was all prophecied. If you read the entire New Testament, you'll see that the whole time, the disciples refer back to the prophecies. If the prophecies had not been fulfilled, then Jesus would just have been another prophet. He would have been another voice calling in the desert, "Make way for the Lord." (Isaiah 40:3) Instead, that honor was given to John the Baptist, and he did indeed proclaim that God was among them.
I could go on and on in this vein...but would you believe it?

Jesus asked His disciples to pray to God and He also prayed to God. But there is love which was greater than other prophets showed by Jesus, which was shown on the cross. And Jesus said that His death will bring deliverance to people in sin. Since all have sinned whose forefathers are Adam and Eve, only the deliverance is thru Jesus. I know many christians do not follow God by heart and obey what Jesus said and do not repent for their sins.
Here's a verse from bible about Jesus, why He is glorified, honoured and respected.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. Heb 2:9
Since I thought u must be from muslim background by your name, here are some people who were changed by Jesus thru his love and given forgives,

these are from the bible, they might help some, i fully belive he is, its hard to explain why i have this faith i just do, not becuse others have told me to have it but becuse i have felt it in my heart
The Jews therefore said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple. (John 8:57-59)
John 17:1-5: Jesus said, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”

John 20:24-28 -
Thomas acknowledges Jesus as God
24Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"
But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it."
26A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 27Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."
28Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
John 1:1-3 -
The Apostle John writes and acknowledges that Jesus was God ("the Word was God"), and as God, always existed, created all that exists along with the Father ("Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made"), became flesh, and dwelt among us
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
Ismail Eliat: What more do you want??? LOL
While preaching in a synagogue He told the crowd, who asked who He was, "Before Abraham was, I Am". In other words, He was calling Himself God, which is why the synagogue attendees became enraged and started picking up stones to stone Him. (John 8:58)
The fact is that Jesus actually *claimed to be divine*. It's in the Gospels. The Apostles considered Him to be God made man. (See above - John 20:24-28 and John 1:1-3). This faith has been passed down to us through the Church that Christ Himself founded and is still the ultimate head of (Matthew 16:18).
I realize that this is not the answer you want to hear, or read, but it is the correct one.

No. They never worshipped Jesus as he was God's son, but they worshipped Jehovah God "in Jesus name". This is the right way to pray.
Jesus said to pray to his Father, in his name, and that his father is greater than he. He also explained that he (Jesus), not even he knew the time of the end (Armageddon). Only his father, our Heavenly Father, Jehovah God knows and at that time he will send his Son to take wrath upon the wicked in the earth. Then the meek ones will possess the earth after all the wicked are destroyed and six feet under.
I ask myself "Where will you be"? I hope on a paradise earth made to perfection as it was God's purpose to begin with so it must be fulfilled; it will come to pass.

The fact is that today's view of Jesus was VERY different from the view of Jesus in his time. Most of the words written about him as a religious figure were written in what are called the "Gnostic Gospels" - these gospels preach a life of simplicity and goodness, understanding Jesus' message as a greater thing than the selfish act of saving one's own "soul" - but then when the Bible was put together (by the CHURCH), the Gospels deemed compatible with the Church's ideas were used, and they did NOT portray the common theme of most of the other gospels.

Some of them tried occasionally, calling him master, etc., and he put an immediate stop to that. He said, "Do not call me master, for I am your brother and am you servant. The greatest amongst you must be the greatest servant." I'm paraphrasing, of course, but you get the idea. When he was about to be crucified, the fellas asked him what to do.
His answer: "Love each other."
THAT'S ALL WE'RE SUPPOSED TO DO, PEOPLE, BE TRUE TO OURSELVES AND LOVE EACH OTHER AS WE (SHOULD)LOVE OURSELVES AND WISH TO BE LOVED!!!
All of this arrogant, pompous, judgemental, holier-than-thou crap is just that-CRAP-and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what our bro JC taught.
Jesus Christ wanted people to follow his teachings, not worship him. He said that time and time again, but the churchy folk still won't do what he taught, yet claim to follow him. I think that they just do it for soe sense of status so they can condemn a world that make them feel, inferior, inadequate and insignificant.

Thomas -
John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
