i just got a brand new HP tx1000 with Vista installed, and it is preloaded with some programs that i'm not sure if it is necessary to keep them. Besides i keep getting pop-ups from the "HP Easy Internet Setup" program. (even after i've checked "not to remind me anymore" ) How do i remove it? i have searched all the programs.....Looks like the pop-ups are from HP East Setup - Core and HP Easy Setup - Frontend programs. Am i right? what are these 2 programs and are they important? can i uninstall these 2 two programs to get rid of the pop-ups? Anybody who has just purchased a HP laptop with vista, please let me know which programs are unnecessary so i can just uninstall them. Thanks.

Call HP's tech support line, they will walk you through it.

I don't suppose you read the manual. Too easy...

wow the first answer is totally unneccessary from someone who have not even seen vista.
to answer your question
i just bought a hp desktop with vista today....and its the same thing on desktop. the only thing is that on mine it doesn't pop up and remind me.
you don't need to keep neither of those programs and they should automaticlly go away when you connect your laptop to internet.
HOWEVER, before you do anything....click on 'help and support' on your screen or search for it.....once you open that......in the search of help and support type in 'boot cd'....that will bring up the easy 2-3 step instructions on how to make a boot cd. you'll need one empty cd-r disk to make that boot cd.
after you make that cd....feel free to mess around with your computer and uninstall stuff that you don't need. both of those programs are not necessary but if you do need 'em in future i am sure they would be available on hp.com or under 'help and support'(if important)
vista is about 10 times better then xp. the only problem is that you wont find 'drivers' for all your old hardware but this problem will be taken care of in coming months. nothing major and nothing that you should be concerned with.
with hp vista you'll also see some other junk like 'vonage and ebay'.....they are not programs....so in search on start, search in folder, search after you double click your c: drive......for ebay and vonage.....and delete where ever you see ebay or vonage.....you wont need any of that....good luck
p.s. don't mess with anything until you make that boot cd which will take 30 seconds. if you need more info email me. oh yeah, and spell check all of this i just wrote if you want...i am too lazy.

Just delete those which you think it's useless. It won't harm the computer in any way. Infact it will boost the speed.

What you'll loose is the "Easy to use" interface developed by HP. Which is developed to eat RAM and "help" you "solves" problem easily.

Those are useless!!!
