So I have a chip in my windshield...I called my insurance company to see if I had glass coverage...the rep stated that I have a $500 comp deductible...I know this...I heard from someone in the insurance industry that if the chip/crack is smaller that a dollar bill that the duductible would be waiver...also I live in central Texas and everytime I got to get my truck to be washed they always offer for my chip to be fixed for free...I have declined for fear that I would get a bill for $500 for a chipped windsheild...I also I take claims for a living for a big insurance company...but I dont work in the glass dept...that is out of a different office in CT...Help

It depends on your state. Your insurance isnt just going to take your deductible for the fun of it if you live in a state where they are supposed to waive it- so clearly you dont live in one of those states.

For example, in Florida, any windshield only claim gets its deductible waived but this is not true across the United States.

Depends on your insurance company. I have State Farm and $1000 deductible but glass coverage is free. Even had a "wing window" fixed without paying anything.

Try getting it fixed at a glass place w/o using your insurance. It will be cheaper than your 500.00 deductable.
